At some point it just becomes hype, right?

Prove me wrong hoss

I teach world Geography and this is what I teach about global warming and so called climate change and I am going to prove you wrong.

This the condensed version.

Some scientist claim that burning fossil fuels such as oil and coal places large amounts of CO2 gasses or Carbon gasses into the atmosphere.
These scientist theorize that CO2 gasses hold heat more than the other gasses in our atmosphere therefore the more CO2 in our atmosphere the more of the suns heat is held in the Earth.

The climate has always changed. The Earth has always gone through long periods of colder than normal temperatures and periods of warmer than normal temperatures.
Areas of deserts today where once tropical rainforests and some areas where covered by water. We know this because of fossils of fish and tropical plants and animals found throughout these areas that are today deserts.
Some areas that are colder climates today were much warmers thousands of years ago and vice versa.
All these changes in climate occurred long before humans began burning coal and oil.
This proves climates can change naturally. A fact that no scientist disagrees on though some scientists choose to ignore it in their research.

In the 1970’s climatologists and meteorologists claimed the Earth was getting prepared for another Ice Age

The scientists were correct the temperatures were on average colder than normal.
The news media began immediately jumping on these “Doom and Gloom” stories.
Running news special after news special and article after article showing all the scary and dangerous things that mankind would face with a modern ice age
The media loves scary stories because it grabs peoples attentions and increases ratings and news paper sales.

Then it warmed up. All the predictions of the terrible oncoming ice age were wrong.
But now we have to explain why the Earth is not plunging into that Ice Age we were all so afraid of.
Global Cooling became Global Warming.

The science that supposedly “proves” global warming is extremely controversial and it completely ignores ALL the natural things that cause weather/climate (Especially the Sun)

The theory itself states that increased CO2 levels wont allow heat to escape the Earth. Global Warming scientist have yet to explain how CO2 gasses can hold heat in but not keep it out.

I proved you wrong Hoss.

Right. Taxes have nonimpact. If these dogooders really wanted to make an impact on CO2 emissions they would be talking about giving up HVAC, long distance travel, and overseas cargo transport. But that would require real sacrifice. Unpalatable.

Here are some more facts:

Many claims by Global Warming believers and scientist have turned out to be completely FALSE!
Al Gore predicted in 2007 the Arctic would be completely ice free and melted by 2014.
The truth is arctic ice actually grew by 60% and is not melting at a faster rate. While some ice is melting new ice is forming in other parts

Many global warming believers point to Hurricane Sandy and Katrina as proof of strong hurricanes, quoting the fact that Sandy caused 62 billion dollars of damage.
This example is incorrect in showing the power of a storm. It caused billions of dollars damage because it hit New York City and New Jersey. If it had hit some rural coastline the dollars of damage would be far less.
Hurricane Sandy had actually dropped in power down to that of a tropical storm by the time it hit land

After years of claiming the Earth was warming all over lots of research (by groups that had pushed Global Warming in the past) proved that it actually wasnt
Now that global warming, the idea that the whole Earth is heating up is no longer a reality the former “global warming believers” have started calling it “Climate Change”
Now no matter what weather/climate events occur they can claim climate change and be right
If its hot or cold, dry or rainy, fewer storms or more storms they are “right”

The Democrat plan for addressing climate change is about $$$$$.

That's why Republicans dont trust it.

Only the rich rich can afford to comfortably worry about climate change.

So you feel completely comfortable having a conversation you are not qualified to have and putting your opinions out as facts and then in the process of that conversation calling out other people's qualifications to discredit their views when contrary to yours even when they are similarly qualified to yourself?

Does that make sense to you? Is that how you wish to approach conversation?

quote:

Your post history shows you have an obvious biased against any view that contradicts conservatism

You are wrong. I do not have a bias against non-conservative views, but most of my views are conservative.

Do you understand the difference? Because that difference is important and Progressives seem to miss that nuance. One thing Progressives love to do is assume that because you hold opinion A, then you must hate opinion B and its opinion holders. This is a logical fallacy and quite ignorant. Although it does often describe the thought process of a progressive.

I always strive to approach a debate with an open mind. Just because I agree with a conservative view does not mean that I am bias against a competing view. Do you understand that?

This is an often parroted but wholly incorrect assertion regarding man-made climate change. There are plenty of scientists and studies on both sides of the argument. To discredit anyone who disagrees with you and then ignore their research makes no sense.

But.. he can parrot what he’s told really, really good! That’s just as good as a scientific understanding of thermodynamic systems.

Its a bit more complicated than that, but they can’t quantify feedbacks, either by their own admission. You have a solid point about the boundary condition they never want to address, tho.

I didn't put anything out as a "fact." For a Ph.D. your reading comprehension is lacking.

And there are plenty of people who believe the Earth is flat, but they're still the slim minority. You seem to fall into that category when it comes to climate science.

Another progressive tactic. Choose one part of a phrase of a sentence, shift entire conversation to an analysis of that phrase, ignore all else.

At least you are consistent. I would like to give you credit where credit is due. You are a rock solid carbon copy progressive foot soldier.
