Most of the USA.

I make $30k a year and I’m alive. I have a house and a vehicle that’s paid for. Money is kind of tight but I can still buy whatever I need for the most part. I’d feel rich if I made 70k per year. It’s all about lifestyle. If you’re used to 200k a year I can see how 70k might seem unlivable.

$35/hr is plenty to live on. No one said you needed to live on the coast or a major metropolitan area.

Some of those base salaries for Tesla do look low. Damn.
Some come with stock based sign on bonuses and severance pay that a lot of employers don't include anymore. I know people who have worked for Tesla and they weren't complaining about the total package.

Yes. And they can still have a decent quality of life. And that’s on a single income at $70000.
Definitely not. The math doesn't work out.

Do you think someone making only $70k can afford to pay rent or a mortgage and for daycare? And then also buy diapers, formula, etc? You seem out of touch, friend. And who care what random people tweet? Stop scrolling look for reasons to be outraged.
Nobody seems run their own business here?
70 grand isn’t enough?
Clients start saying things like
“You’re too expensive”
Then it all goes to shite

Who wants to spend $200k in education to "get by"?
Teachers..Nurses, Social Workers....and a ton of other college grads....
But, I hear what you are saying tho....

Absolutely! The problem with most is they try to keep up with the jones… they like their toys and are undisciplined…. I have been living on less than $70,000 for a decade. Got three kids but two no longer at home.
Not that we don’t like nice things…but if we can’t afford it, we don’t buy it. When we need a newer vehicle, we save up and drive the tires off the old one before buying…we payoff all of our credit card debt every month…all it takes is some budget discipline.

A local dairy is hiring line workers at $30/hour in rural, low cost WI.
They'll be living better, with no overtime, than the $76K engineer in expensive Austin
The engineering jobs are probably entry level and offer advantages such as a learning environment at a stable company, growth potential, paid benefits for advanced schooling or certifications, etc. And most importantly they are stepping stones to better jobs.
It's the same with a lot of high paying careers - you start at the bottom working long hours for low pay (medical resident, Wall St analyst, etc) but there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
The dairy worker hooking pumps up to the cow teats at 4:30 am might comfortably pay his bills in rural Wisconsin but he's not moving up any ladders and 10 years from now his pay will be the same, the work will have become tedious and his back will permanently ache.

...and for daycare?
Really???
Maybe daycare wouldn't need to be considered if Uncle Sam didn't tax the hell out of everyone who is making enough to provide for a one income family. And maybe living expenses wouldn't be so high if Uncle Sam would slow down on printing the Monopoly money.
Within the lifetime of many of us here, a single income family wasn't considered abnormal. What has happened over the last forty or fifty years to make it seem like both spouses absolutely must work to provide for the family?

Stagnant real middle class wage growth. 401Ks replacing pensions.

Not very far - $4,500 a month? $2,000 for rent, $250 electricity, $300 gas, $700 food and necessities, $500 car note, $100 insurance, etc. you spend every penny.

Leftist????!

Laura Loomer is only tolerated by level-headed intelligent people, as one would tolerate a teenager. To me she comes off as another hysterical woman.

What are rent and daycare prices like where you think $70k is more than enough to raise a family?
12,000 average annual daycare
1,800/month could probably get someone a decent 2 bedroom apt.
What else you got?
