As an alumnus of this University, it is disturbing to me that the president was allowed to bias the decision and overrule it to kick this young man out of school when his accuser's daddy donated a bunch of money to UT conveniently gave a massive donation within a month of the allegations.

Cheatsheet:

Two UT students at a sorority event have sex. Girl admits she gave consent and had been drinking. Days later "realizes" she was too drunk to give consent and accuses John Doe of sexual assault.

Hearing ensues and UT's hearing officer sides with John Doe and that's that, right? Nope. UT president overrides hearing officer's claim and suspends Doe for 5 semesters.

Later turns out, that Jane Doe's daddy is a huge UT donor, gave a massive donation within a month of accusation, and even brought on by the University as an adviser.

You can't believe how blatant this was. Now in court, UT decides to reinstate student rather than have court hearing, but Doe says F that and pushes for trial to force deposition of President and others. UT trying to have private 3rd party arbitrator instead.

I hope this a-hole, President Fenves, is forced to testify and the University loses big time. I can't stand this type of crap. Here's to hoping judge refuses UT's request and forces it to happen in open court.

I wonder what the damages would be for a five semester suspension considering that many institutions won’t touch a student with a ten foot pole if they are under suspension from another institution. Especially when a title IX case is involved.

Help me out here libs.

If she was too drunk to give consent, could he had been to drunk not to have noticed that she was too drunk for her consent to be actual consent?

Therefore he acted in good faith, and therefore is not guilty of sexual assault?

Yep. And if I am drunk driving, how can I be punished for an action (driving) that I was too drunk to choose?

Consent or not isn't even the question here. It is the influence behind the President's decision.

Exactly, it's bad enough the kid went through a hearing because a girl decided days later that despite giving consent and knowing she did that it wasn't a real consent in her mind now.

It is the fact that despite common sense prevailing in the judgment of the hearing officer, the President of the University took it upon himself to pull a Goodell and even worse had recently received a significant donation from the accuser's father.

This is a title IX violation of the accused if I've ever seen one, and the president should be removed after this.

Too drunk for consent should be immediately dismissed, with no court case, and without the possibly of this bribe even happening.

Here's to hoping President Fenves is relieved of his duties. This is just like Zeke. Dude didn't do anything wrong, but the person in the position of power wants to 'make an example' of them so they can seem like they are hard on sexual assault. But there was no sexual assault.

There's political pressure (or hubris) to enforce obamas tough title9 positions where the university is judge, jury, and executioner. The accused have little rights and the system always wins. It's the perfect communist utopia

The girl who accused the other guy days later should realize what she's done to the guy. He didn't do anything wrong. You knew better, and hadn't had anything to drink in 4 hours. You put that kids life on hold by being kicked out of school, and for what? Because Daddy was upset with you?

I get that. But I think the UT President might not know what was the biggest influence on his arbitrary, dictatorial, and reactionary decision.

A- Money.
B- PC.
C-Liberalism.
D- Fear of militant feminazis.
E- All of the above.
F- A and C.
G- B and D.

This means he didn't call her and she got pissed.

Just another day in the life of "t.u."

They're fighting a former coach who they fired for having a sexual relationship with a student, because she's seeking info on why a former football assistant coach (and former star QB) was only reprimanded for doing the same with a student trainer (all while his wife was 9 months pregnant).

"Perp's" daddy should have just donated more than "victim's".

Anything worthwhile can and should be bought and paid for.
