Did you read the article? It's an entirely different issue than the separation of young kids from parents right now. It deals with detaining teenagers smuggling for the cartels

My grown son's best friend is in Homeland Security and he says they mostly are smuggling drugs and being criminal helpers. I thought all these laws were passed years ago. Trump has not passed any of these laws. Someone[Dem's] is lying.

The separation of children issue is not a law. It's the way Trump's administration is enforcing the law. There is no law calling for this. You're falling for Trumps BS talking points. Hell even Jeff Sessions and Stephen Miller admit that this is something new this administration is doing.
