Always remember, everyone hates the middle class. The aristocrats don't want anyone else's life to even come close to theirs in terms of quality, and they know that a pure merit system will eventually supplant their progeny - as America is famous for (rising and falling families). They want to remove all roads to advancement, or "climbing" as they virulently term it.
The poor hate the middle class because the latter crawled out of the poverty class and earned a better life. In short, "dey tink dey better den us." It really is that simple. Shitty people want everyone to be shitty.

Well Laura Bush was and still is a democrat, didn't even bother to change party identification to republican for her husband's sake and pretend she's some conservative so her opinion on this really isn't surprising.
