I take this to mean that it uses electric arc furnaces to melt scrap (should be a lot of this ) steel with various additives to make desired steel. With JSC involved, likely a continuous line rolling into billets then into desire shapes such as plate and structural.

I am not seeing large cranes and a "technological cross" must mean a pipe rack. Starting up units is not like flipping a switch and is the most dangerous time for those using catalyst, as in almost everything downstream of crude units (AVT for them)

The cranes and the cross are circled with red-dashed lines. The cross is at top left of the first photo, the three cranes are in the middle of the second.

"weightlifting exercises" - Yeah, he does look like a swole gym rat.
quote:

As reported by VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info, Oleg Agarkov, the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, has been hospitalized in critical condition with a traumatic brain injury. He is in a coma.

According to a source, the general was hospitalized from a sports club. It is presumed that he sustained the injury during weightlifting exercises. Preliminary information indicates that Agarkov is currently on vacation. The incident occurred against the backdrop of ongoing searches in the entourage of Governor Veniamin Kondratiev and the ensuing war among local law enforcement agencies stemming from this.

Aaand somebody's pissed about that "weightlifting accident", initiating a race to Moscow to buy protection.

quote:

The source VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info reported that yesterday, security forces conducted searches at the administration of Krasnodar Krai. After the operations, they took away Anton Kazanov, the Governor Kondratyev's closest aide and head of the regional administration's affairs department.

According to the source, Anton Kazanov has long been Kondratyev's trusted figure on all construction matters—both personal ones (like the construction of the notorious Tuscan-style estate) and the execution of all unofficial directives on major construction projects.

Kazanov knows everything about Kondratyev's personal dealings in the construction sector. As for Kondratyev himself, according to the source, after the search, he left for Moscow in hopes of reaching the "first office."

The World of the Russian Mafia.
quote:

The Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg (Judge Belokurova-Ochirova) sentenced young father Sergei Gaplichny (leaving a child born in 2022 at home) to 1 year in a penal colony settlement under Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("intentional damage to property motivated by hooliganism").

The "victim" was declared to be 48-year-old Inna Mikhailova — daughter of Andrei Mikhailov, deputy head of the Administration of the Governor of St. Petersburg and chief of the secretariat of Alexander Beglov.
quote:

On August 11, 2022, Gaplichny was walking with his son in a stroller along the pedestrian path near school No. 547 on Admiral Konovalov Street. A white Audi Q5 (license plate M400XM178) driven by Mikhailova suddenly drove straight onto the sidewalk toward him. When he remarked that children walk here, the lady rudely stated that "her navigator was directing her that way," then switched to profanity and threats.

Fearing for the child, Sergei urgently called his wife, who took the stroller farther away. At that moment, Mikhailova abruptly accelerated straight at Gaplichny. To save his legs from being severed under the crossover's wheels, the man jumped and ended up on the hood. But Mikhailova didn't even brake: with the man on the hood, she crashed through the lawn fence, knocked down a tree, and slammed into the school fence at speed.

The result for Gaplichny: closed head injury, concussion, broken foot bones, and a severe comminuted arm fracture with displacement. Mikhailova got out of the car and, without approaching the man lying there, began inspecting her vehicle's bodywork.
quote:

The administrative case against Mikhailova herself for the collision was quietly dropped "due to lack of corpus delicti." When a real threat of a criminal charge loomed over her, all of her father's Smolny connections kicked in: the prosecutor's office overturned the Ministry of Internal Affairs' refusals, four investigators were replaced in the case, until the system was finally pressured into compliance. The case was turned upside down, accusing Gaplichny of "jumping onto the hood out of hooligan motives and hitting it with his elbow."
quote:

The outcome — 1 year in a penal colony settlement and nearly 200 thousand rubles in compensation. The pedestrian who miraculously survived under the foreign car's wheels is headed to prison just for daring to stand up to the daughter of a powerful official.

For the last twenty years MBA programs worldwide used the Blackberry fiasco as the prime example of how a company with a seven-year technological head start on the most financially lucrative new market in the world managed to destroy their own company.

They won't be using Blackberry any longer.

Trump needs to do a better job of explaining his position.
Lifting the oil sanctions on Russia is viewed worldwide is an appeasement of Putin. It makes zero sense until there’s something the world doesn't see. I know a lot of people believe that Trump plays 4-d chess but this chess move looks like a white flag to us regular folks.

But then again, this is the same person thaf said in 2023-

“Before I even arrive at the Oval Office , I will have the disastrous war between russia and Ukraine settled, it will be settled quickly”

This was his promise. He got claps for saying it. It clearly was well received and part of the reason that he got elected.

That wasn’t 4-d chess. It was typical political nonsense.

So with that, any “deal” that Trump makes with Putin should be viewed with some scepticism.

All this talk about Europe or Canada going away from Starlink... It's all just BS.

HOW are they going to transition to a rival service that doesn't exist today? Are they going to build their own space program and launch 1000's of satellites to build the same constellation that Starlink uses? Ok...come back in 10 years and update us on how that's going.

There is no widely available alternative to Starlink.

People have no idea at the type of moat Elon has built with Starlink and SpaceX more broadly.

Several have outed themselves as fools based on their comments in here about it. But most we had a pretty good idea about before that anyway.

Trump has shown you cannot build a moat to protect against a US president willing to use all theoretical power and leverage of the office.

He needs to spend a lot of money to stop a Dem president from ever taking office with a placid Dem congress sitting in his/her/their lap.

Otherwise it will be nationalized.

At least do a little research before you make statements like this.

Here are ten satellite companies already operating or rolling out this year. Already up and operating right now. This is just the first list I found. And it doesn't include the two currently operating Chinese commercial systems (SpaceSail and China Satellite), both of which will have over 13,000 additional orbiting units within five years.

Top 10 Starlink Competitors & Alternatives

Eight of them already have their own GEO or LEO satellite arrays and are adding more constantly. The only limitation to their expansion is financial investment and that has been slow...

Oh, wait. Not so slow any longer.

Thanks Elon, you're a genius.

Speaking of which show me where he has nationalized a company as you previously claimed.

Who is the current closest competitor to Starlink? How large is their constellation? Who controls it?

It doesn't do any good for Europe to go with another commercial provider if they will be subject to the same concerns about control that they currently have with Starlink. These need to be government-controlled systems, not commercially owned.

Do you think Europe would give China control over Europe's use of China's system? Same issue they have with the US today. So the European governments are going to need to put up their own systems, not rely on 3rd parties.

Are you kidding? Putin's creating a situation where the European countries are going to beg Ukraine to join.

Crazy talk.

I wanted to address this. It's not crazy, it's what's going to happen.

Yes, NATO is a defense pact, and it's specifically built to defend against Russia now. It may have been for the USSR, but they're gone now and since Russia has decided to once again go after its neighbors, something it's done for thousands of years now, (Fun fact: the USSR once applied to join NATO and when NATO turned them down it proved that NATO was specifically an anti-USSR club)

Bleeding Russia isn't going to stop them from trying this shite in the future. Hell, the USSR fell apart and 30 years later the Russians are trying it again. The Ukraine is the natural buffer that the Poles, Germans, and the rest of Europe are going to want to keep the Russians at bay, and since we can't be trusted anymore to protect them, there is going to be an organized effort to get them in.

Yes, there may be outliers like an Orban, or Trump, or Le Penn that keeps them out, but mainstream Europe is going to push very hard to get them in, so expect to it happen sometime in the coming decades after this war is over.
