If tweet fails to load, click here. Any information about the fate of these children is hugely damaging to the Kremlin. It's the hook that catches the attention of many in the West that don't bother understanding this conflict. And it's indefensible under any interpretation. A country that does this is not civilized.

Currently 5:30 PM with a temperature of 98 degrees and full sun in Pokrovsk Ukraine. Seems the Russian advance in the area has been slowed considerably. Also seems like my analysis from a few days ago that they were trying to cut off Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad was completely wrong as recent maps and report of troop movements and axis of attack shows them trying to go right into the cities. One thing that will always benefit Ukraine it seems is the Russian leaderships complete inability to change tactics and think more strategically

Its honestly insane how inept they are
Its clear that the competent don't succeed in the Russian military. Advancement is all about loyalty to the guy above you and the chain leads all the way up to Putin.

It really does blow my mind. I was looking at the maps and stuff this morning and was like well I guess somebody just decided frick it let's go right in instead of cutting off and trapping a large portion of Ukraine's fighting force in the region.

The only logical reason you might do that is that you don't have enough men to encircle them and hold the rear part of the encirclement. Which I guess is possible, but still.

Yea true, still seems a direct assault on city would be more costly. If it turns out like previous Russian attempts to take cities (like Bakhmut) by the time you take it it'll have no value and winter will have set in stopping any hopes of continuing the offensive. But that's been the Russian fighting style since WW2 and I guess old habits are hard to quit

The Russians have been trying to take Pokrovsk for a year now. They have lost tens of thousands of men.
Reports of imminent breakthroughs have come and gone. The defense of Pokvovsk might become Ukraine’s version of Stalingrad.

Tens of thousands just trying to take Pokrovsk? Source for this?

When your only real advantage youve ever had in modern or warfare is number of people, I guess there are only so many ways you can deploy meat waves

Which points even more to the incompetence of Russian military leadership and shows even more that conventionally they were never a real threat to NATO or even the European Union.

Yea I remember when the the first pictures of their latest military technology like the T-14, SU-57, and BMPT Terminator were released and everyone was saying that the Russians military technology has now become equal to or surpassed the west. I thought yea those will never see the light of day and if they do it won't be in any type of numbers to make a difference. You can make an argument that the SU-57 has been somewhat of a successful project but the other two have turned out to be hot garbage.

Russia began with an advantage in manpower, air power, artillery, missiles and navy.
They also have nukes which threaten Ukraine and it’s allies. The nukes also help Russia with its allies NK and Iran.

I believed you to begin with, I just wanted to see if you could actually link something that says what you claimed and says what you think it says.
Much better job this time! Even if it is Wikipedia and the numbers are coming from estimates rather than actual figures. I find it kind of funny that the primary source for the quote is a guy that has a Masters degree in Fiction though

Honestly, anyone following the war closely should know that Russia has had tens of thousands of casualties in this battle.

Well you also knew that Putin had "publicly stated his goals of conquering multiple NATO countries" and we all saw how that turned out.

You constantly accuse me of trolling and now that I actually was, and was open about it, you don't believe me because you're embarrassed

Rubio announced in June that he had good intelligence that Russia had 100,000 KIA in the first 6 months of this year. So figure 2.5x wounded (minimum even in Russia).
So casualties are running in excess of 500,000 annually. Probably closer to 1 million.
And Pokrovsk has been the single largest effort of the Russian army over the past year. So it doesn't take a mathematician to fill in the gaps. Tens of thousands might be conservative.
