What you linked doesn't say what you claimed it does at all.
In fact, the opposite.
From your link:
Also it should be noted that you were essentially using John Bolton as a source
In fact, the opposite.
From your link:
quote:
"Most references to this line have suggested that Putin was bemoaning the loss of the communist economic and political system," the book reads, "but Putin has since frequently underscored that he was talking about the collapse of the Russian state itself."
Gaddy elaborated in an interview with PunditFact, saying Putin is not eager to re-establish the USSR, partly because it would be costly for Russia, which subsidized many Soviet countries during that era. He does, however, want to make sure surrounding countries are not used against Russia.
Gaddy said Putin does not see Ukraine as a prize, as Bolton suggested, but as a potential liability and realm for anti-Russian activity.
"His nightmare has long been that Ukrainian instability would be used to sap Russia’s attention and strength, or worse — that it would be used to entrap Russia into intervening militarily and getting bogged down," Gaddy said. "The nightmare is coming real."

This invites a good question, does Russia have the armor to break out?
I've seen a lot of motorcycles, golf carts, civilian cars and trucks and meat waves lately. Oh yes, let's not forget the donkeys!
It's been a very long couple of weeks for Putin.

Did he want to take all of Ukraine? Yes, I think you can confidently say yes just best on the first operations of the war. Did he want to then roll into Europe? No, I think Putin knows he never had the capability to invade any European/NATO country.

Today:
Putin is going to attack NATO!!!!!!!!
Putin wants to conquer European countries!!!!!
Putin wants the Soviet empire back!!!!!

Putin's economy is on the verge of collapse!!!!
There will be no winners in this war!!!!!
Putin has to depend on donkeys!!!!
Putin is recruiting grandpa for the frontline!!!!!
The next day:
Rinse!!!!
The day after that:

Well that quote wasn't really talking about whether he wanted the whole country or not, it was more about his motivations. "I think this country is a threat to mine long term" is a much different motivation than "I see myself as Peter the Great and want to conquer it".

The Ukraine war has shown that Russia's military, at least conventionally, was never a real threat to Europe, and the loss of that is way more than Ukraine is worth.
Then why is Europe shitting its pants?
Russia's paper tiger military is still a tiger to all but a couple (i.e. Poland) in Europe. Europeans succumbed to being libtards long ago, their militaries are hollow. The few who do enlist in Europe are far right, they likely sympathize with Russia more than their own governments
Russia is no threat to the US. Hence why the US should stop funding proxy wars against a country that is irrelevant to us. Its a European problem

There are multiple ways to take a country. One by either conquering that country or 2 installing some type of puppet government. Belarus is basically an example of the second one. You don't make your first major offensive of the war directly towards a country's capitol without planning to do one of these two things.

Because European governments still need people to believe Russia is a threat in order to further their agenda. Ukraine has proved that Russia is a country with a large army with little substance. The feared tank columns and advanced weaponry Russia claimed to have have not amounted to anything. Of course the nuclear threat is still there but conventionally Russia is outclassed by the large majority of European military's even with the people of those countries being woke idiots.

And that agenda is they need Russia as a boogie man to keep the US tied to Europe so that we will defend them.

True, but the fact is they aren't which is why Russia never intended to invade Europe even if it took all of Ukraine easily. They knew they didn't have a chance.

I just read various articles.
Many of the authors believe Putin is trying to expand the borders to rebuild the old empire.
The Baltic States do. They are ratcheting up their defenses now. Sweden and Finland are obviously worried and we know Poland’s thinking.
You have your opinion and I have mine.

Not at all they have tried to make nice with Russia to keep them from being aggressive. It hasn't worked.
FWIW, the US actually raised troop levels, infrastructure and exercises in Europe as part of NATO between 2016 and 2020 despite the "mean tweets" about NATO.

Putin has proven to all that he is willing to throw away Russian lives and lob missiles at civilians to get the land that he wants. Europe would have to assume he’d continue being himself after conquering Ukraine.

Yes.
The Baltic States have large Russian ethnic residents.
Latvia 23.4%
Estonia sbout 24%
Lithuania only 5%
Russia can use the large Russian ethnic groups to their benefit as they did in Ukraine.
In 1970 Ukraine 19.4% ethnic Russian
In 1979 21.1%
In 1989 22.1%
In 2001 17.2%
Current ???? Less than 20%
Look at what Russia has done to Ukraine. They began causing turmoil politically, then they took advantage of the turmoil to take Crimea and to get directly involved in promoting a civil war.

The US needs Europe as a trade partner. Trump knows this and he leveraged trade for protection.

Finally, new Ukrainian fortified trench lines have been installed in a number of areas of the front lines. These lines were constructed 12-14km behind present Ukrainian front lines. When the Ukrainians wish to occupy these new trenches, the Russians will have to get out of their fortified works and follow. Once they are out of their trenches and out in the open....
Things may get interesting soon.

Putin's hopes are much worse. It's been a very long few days of his "special operation."

No, you said that he said it. Show me the quote.
Not what people think. That's not what you said.
Show us, DoubleB. I legitimately want to see it.
This isn't a difference of opinion, this is you backing up something you presented as fact.
ETA for clarity, your exact quote:
quote:
Putin has publicly stated his goals. Those goals involve taking Ukraine and several NATO countries.
Show us the Public statements. Shouldn't be hard.
