Russia Confiscates $7.6Bln in Assets in Largest Nationalization Yet
quote:
Russian authorities have confiscated assets worth 550 billion rubles ($7.59 billion) linked to jailed billionaire Vadim Moshkovich and transferred them to state ownership, the Interior Ministry said Thursday, in what appears to be the largest asset seizure of Russia's recent wave of nationalizations.
Moshkovich, 58, founder of major agricultural producer Rusagro and ranked 51st on Forbes Russia's list of the country's wealthiest businessmen, has been held in pre-trial detention since March last year. Former Rusagro Chief Executive Maxim Basov was also arrested in connection with the case.
The seizure underscores the scale of the Kremlin's campaign to bring private assets under state control since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a drive that has already transferred businesses worth an estimated 6.5 trillion rubles ($89.7 billion) to government ownership.
The Interior Ministry said its investigation into Moshkovich had been completed and that all property seized in the case had been "transferred to state revenue."

According to Bloomberg, concerns among some of Russia's wealthiest businessmen about potential prosecution or asset seizures have prompted efforts to demonstrate loyalty to the Kremlin.
The agency reported that billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, whose fortune is estimated at $11.6 billion by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, offered during a closed-door meeting with Putin in March to contribute 100 billion rubles ($1.38 billion) to the state budget.
Bloomberg reported that the federal budget subsequently received 220 billion rubles ($3.04 billion) in what officials described as gratuitous contributions following Putin's annual meeting with leading business executives.

Russia spent 5.9 trillion rubles on military needs in the first quarter of 2026, equivalent to roughly $75 billion at current exchange rates, according to calculations by economist Janis Kluge. The figure is 30% higher than a year earlier and represented about 46% of total federal budget spending during the period. Classified expenditures rose 43% year-on-year, reaching 4.9 trillion rubles, or about $62 billion.
As of April 1 of this year, the total liquid assets of the Russian National Wealth Fund totalled $47.8 billion. That's the equivalent of two months at the First Quarter military expenditure rate, without adding the 'classified expenditures'.
They've past the Johnny Paycheck level long ago and are now in the Hand-to-Mouth regime, as we're seeing with the continued looting of the oligarchs.
A case could be made that the war's end will closely coincide with the exhaustion of all liquid assets in Russia, irregardless of ownership. However, as the condition of all Russian banks are now measured on the Glasgow Coma Scale, the Kremlin looters may not want to open that door. They can't pay the Chinese with four years of still-hanging REPO paper.

This should ruin the weekend for the Russian-owned attorney firms in the City. Key question: is it loaded? [Edited to add: Yes, it is loaded. LINK ]
Speaking of oligarch's money, as the majority of their overseas holdings are in the UK and UK-related offshores, the taxing if not outright possession of these funds will be a high profile issue for years. Putin has provided the kind of daylight that is kryptonite for these accounts and the UK ficus is badly in need of the kind of revenue streams that this kind of out of the box thinking would provide.
As the legal fees generated by defending these accounts against the taxing authorities would become enormous AND would be taxable in their own right, such an indirect taxing would be legal and lucrative. That plus any capital gains taxes on redemptions would whittle down these funds without bankrupting the barrister firms. Win win.

Russian Black Sea Fleet relocating command structures from Sevastopol
Roman Petrenko — 14 June, 10:36
Members of the Atesh underground resistance movement have said staff structures of Russia's Black Sea Fleet are drawing up plans to relocate the remaining command bodies from Sevastopol in occupied Crimea to the Russian city of Novorossiysk.
Source: Atesh
Details: The partisans link the move to the growing number of Ukrainian strikes on Crimea, including the attack on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's aviation branch on 27 May.
Former deployment sites on the peninsula, including the aviation headquarters on Hohol Street, are steadily losing their functionality, Atesh believes.
Quote: "According to informants among military personnel, some officers are already dealing with the practical aspects of the move without waiting for official orders: relocating their families, getting rid of property they will not be able to take with them and settling in Novorossiysk. Morale among the fleet's leadership is low – those who truly understand what is happening prefer not to delay.
The relocation of command structures is a logical consequence of the systematic pressure on the fleet's infrastructure in Crimea. Maintaining headquarters structures on the peninsula is becoming an increasingly costly and risky decision for the occupiers. Judging by the way the situation is developing, the coming months could be the most difficult for the occupation forces in Crimea since the beginning of the war."

Ok, with a studied pause that must accompany any communication from Laura Loomer, this is of interest -
If Laura Loomer says it has legs, it has legs... As to seeing this out, nothing cooks quite like a jealous crazybitch.

Let’s be clear: there is no evidence that Ukraine in its longstanding cooperative program with the US has engaged in Gain of Function or biological weapons research.
But what is clear is Tulsi Gabbard and her staff promulgated Russian intelligence products as American work, in violation of the Espionage Act.
My FOIA request to ODNI regarding the production of these documents is being submitted on Monday morning. By law, ODNI has 10 business days to respond.
