US extends Russian oil sanctions waiver for 30 more days
Olha Kovalchuk, Anastasia Protz — 18 May, 19:57
The US Department of the Treasury has extended a temporary licence that allows certain countries to purchase Russian oil already at sea for another month.
Source: US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on X (Twitter), as reported by European Pravda
Details: Bessent said the temporary 30-day general licence will enable "the most vulnerable nations" to purchase Russian oil currently stranded at sea.
He said the measure will help stabilise global markets.
Quote: "This extension will provide additional flexibility, and we will work with these nations to provide specific licences as needed. This general licence will help stabilise the physical crude market and ensure oil reaches the most energy-vulnerable countries."
Details: The decision was officially announced just two days after Washington reinstated sanctions on Russian oil by not extending the previous exemption.

If Ukraine had really turned a corner and actually had Russia on the ropes, they wouldn't bother hitting Moscow because of this risk, however slight it might be.
I’d think if Russia actually had Ukraine on the ropes, then Ukraine would be all in attacking Moscow.

Yes, the conflict has moved back towards stalemate.

Yes. It’s been that way for years. Neither side is gaining the upper hand and progress for either side has been slow.

Those 3 day special operations are not what they claim to be!

Satellite images show major damage from the May 15 strike on Russia’s Ryazan refinery, including process racks at ELOU-AVT-3, ELOU-AVT-6 and AVT-1, one destroyed tank and a technical rack near the TPP. Rough estimates indicate more than half of the refinery’s processing capacity was knocked out, with mass damage often forcing full shutdowns until repairs are completed.

If tweet fails to load, click here. It's now confirmed by Russian media channels that it was shot down by air defense friendly fire. Well, at least they shot down something.

Defense against these guided bombs is almost impossible. It requires an anti-missile system such as a Patriot. These bombs are the most successful weapons the Russians have employed over the last 18 months.

It takes a couple of days to translate the orders from the original Russian.

Another truth bomb from the FSB... err, from Girkin.
quote:
Girkin concludes that the Ukrainian authorities have brains, unlike the Russian leadership:
“The increased capabilities of the enemy allow him to launch massive strikes every night, actually equaling us in the number of such strikes, and in some places even exceeding our capabilities in this regard. This is related again to the fact that the enemy over the course of two years has diligently implemented the adopted strategy to create a superiority in unmanned aerial vehicles and achieve parity in missile means with the Russian Federation.
We had a strategy in the last two years to achieve a compromise, and we continue to pursue this same strategy now. Well, we will draw conclusions further.
Unfortunately, if now the enemy has reached parity or even a slight superiority in his favor in some places, further his superiority will only grow.
That means a correctly chosen strategy. And that means the presence, perhaps in enemy heads, of brains.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the heads of our leaders.”

Anyone with an IQ above 75 knows Trump thinks in fairly simple economic terms (for better and sometimes for worse) and is going to do everything he can to help the supply side of the oil market while there are potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. It's as simple as that, no wild conspiracy theories you have zero proof of needed.

Job one for Trump is go look out for the USA, and you are right; he believes it best to let Russia skate until the Iran war is over and the SOH is open. He can’t hurt America in order to help Ukraine. It’s a no brainer.

Anybody with an IQ over 75 knows that Trump has done everything he can to help his buddy in the Kremlin, and there are always going to be things that overlap with favors to Putin and Trump's own personal agenda.
And yeah, the proof is right in front of your eyes, you choose not to learn.

Russia needs the “soonful end” of the war in Ukraine, since the country’s economy will not withstand a long continuation of the “SVO”, said the Deputy of the state Duma from the Communist party Renat Suleymanov. “Officially, 40% of the federal budget is defense and security. What kind of development, investment, investment can we talk about?
