Peak Russia - How long before they start charging their owns troops for drones?

quote:

The Russian MOD established its Unmanned Systems Forces (BPS) in November 2025. To the concern of many commentators, it appointed Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Vaganov to command the new force, despite his lack of formal military education or prior service experience.

Warblogger Svyatoslav Golikov commented at the time of Vaganov's appointment that his partnership with his apparent patron, Deputy Minister of Defence Alexey Krivoruchko, "is truly about commerce. Not about refining the concept of using unmanned systems in modern warfare."

Romanov says that the Russian MOD's advanced systems directorate, the Department of Advanced Interspecific Research and Special Projects, "will not issue drones to just any unit on the Front."

"Drones will be issued only to BPS troops. Vaganov now personally and exclusively oversees the distribution of drones.

After the start of the artificially created “drone shortage” in regular units

Although he is in principle the equivalent of Ukraine's formidable unmanned systems forces commander Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi, even Russian commentators acknowledge that Vaganov is a poor comparison.

"Not about developing unmanned systems as a cross-cutting technology at the combined arms level. Not about improving combat effectiveness and reducing our casualty rate. It's just about commerce. Trivial and banal. An alternative, excellent analogue response to Madyar."

Although he is in principle the equivalent of Ukraine's formidable unmanned systems forces commander Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi, even Russian commentators acknowledge that Vaganov is a poor comparison.

"During the period of deliveries of the VT-40 FPV and the Groza electronic warfare system to the Front through Krivoruchko, [Vaganov] was churning out utterly substandard products , which resulted in the deaths of our operators, including members of the special forces."

Since his appointment, Romanov says, "instead of building their own forces from scratch (using modern frontline experience), the BPS are trying to poach the best operators and technicians from other units, thereby leaving many critical areas understaffed.

Yet it can always get worse. Increasing Russian 'commercial opportunities' means cutting the competition -

quote:

To make matters even worse, the now near-total block on Telegram has had a catastrophic impact on volunteer fundraising and purchases of equipment, further reducing the supply of drones.

Planned forthcoming curbs on VPNs and cryptocurrency are also likely to impact drone procurement within the army, as many soldiers spend their own salaries on purchasing drones from Chinese suppliers.

f Vance is going to save his career, he needs to firewall Trump and start running his 2028 campaign right now. He will inherit the MAGA vote as an anti-war candidate and Rubio will still be tied to Trumps coattails. If he's still employed.

Trump is vindictive and has not forgotten anything either of them, or anybody else, has said about him before they bent the knee. He sent Vance to Hungary when things didn't look good... had it been trending towards a victory for Orban, he would've gone himself to bask in and claim the glory. Vance will be continuously humiliated in these ways to remind him he's just allowed to come along for the ride and who allowed it.

Wow, watch this video.

Magyar taking no prisoners. He's going to lay waste to Orban's North Korean style television stations and everyone that worked for them.

Take note Murdock.

quote:

Magyar has spent the last few days meeting with Orbanistas who lied about him and his family incessantly, blocked him from addressing the nation, and did their utmost to keep him from winning a fair election. From Hungary's president -- who must invite Magyar to form a government before resigning -- to this state TV presenter, he's met them to say: "Hello, here's why you're out of job. Goodbye." Breathtaking.

Good thing Magyar is smart and experienced enough to know what to tackle to dismantle Orban's apparatus. I'd seen comments to the effect of "so what, Orban will be back in a couple of years, just like Trump, and he'll finish off the opposition for good!" Orban stacked the Constitutional Courts with loyalists, so that might be a challenge, but Magyar seems to know how to wield his supermajority effectively.

Bingo. With the supermajority in Parliament, everything will change. No one is going to feel like protecting obstructionist judges appointed by Orban. They wouldn't be where they are without dirt and skeletons and will be removed in this fashion.

Here's some examples of that dirt and those skeletons.

Ukraine's Security Service and Unmanned Systems Forces blow up Russian fuel trains near Luhansk

VALENTYNA ROMANENKO — 16 April, 17:47

Officers from the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, together with personnel from the 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Centre of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have destroyed Russian fuel trains near Luhansk.

Source: press service for the Security Service of Ukraine

Details: During reconnaissance operations, the security service established that Russian forces had amassed freight trains carrying fuel at railway stations near temporarily occupied Luhansk. This fuel was intended to supply Russian military equipment.

After confirming the targets and passing their coordinates to the Unmanned Systems Forces, high-precision strikes were carried out using FP-2 drones manufactured by Fire Point.

Ehhhh....not so sure about that. Simply saying 'it's not our problem' is fine on a debate stage but it may or may not stick with people. Time will tell, for sure, but there's a worsening foreign policy situation for this country and Ukraine was one of the first issues that problem reared it's head at.

In regards to his political future, Vance has two big problems: Trump and Rubio.

You're not wrong, but in true lackey fashion Vance found his way to make himself useful. Vance is Trump's attack dog and the most skilled at it. Granted, Hedspeth and Bondi are happy to play that role but they were always too blunt of an instrument and now Bondi is out. And Trump is goign to need this now more than ever. Jesus, he's got Vance slagging the Pope, the American Pope, for god's sake - "opine on mattters of theology" - WHY DID YOU BECOME A CATHOLIC THEN, JD?????

Vance has used that role as a way to ingratiate himself to MAGA and now a 'never Trump' guy is many of their favorite to follow him - again, just look at this board.

But Vance has an ace up his sleeve, impeachment. Trump isn't going to change, and his numbers are going to continue to go down, and more and more people are going to turn on him. A year from now it's entirely possible the House and Senate are in a position to impeach him and when this happens JD is going to stroll in and try to play adult in the room. That's a card Rubio has no chance of playing.

Ukraine faces military desertions as Russian invasion grinds through 5th year

quote:

Ukraine's military says it's facing a growing problem of desertion. Experts estimate approximately 150,000 service members may be missing from their units as the war grinds through its fifth year.

Soldiers cite extreme fatigue caused by long deployments without rotation, anger at orders seen as suicide missions and forced mobilization.

Hasn't russia lost land since the last time you posted a desertion story? That'd be embarrassing, if true.

This opens both a manpower stream and a possible revenue stream. How much would you pay to sit in your home and knock down Shahed drones?
