Refineries ae more profitable when a petrochemical complex is next door. A case in point was the eventual closer of the Corco Refinery in Puerto Rico. It all began when PPG closed a chemical plant adjacent due high cost of electricity by the commonwealth owned utility. This cascaded into closure of the refinery and Union Carbide's largest manufacturing complex in the world.

The amount of stuff that will come out about Ukraine after the war will probably shock the normies who aren't familiar with Ukraine's history. Russians being bad guys =/= Ukrainians are good guys. Just better than Russians, which is a low bar to begin with.

Looks like Novorosssiysk got hammered both oil docks and SAM sites/barracks. refined products are exported from docks, crude oil from a mooring buoy offshore.

The Sheskharis oil export terminal is a major oil and petroleum product transshipment complex in Novorossiysk, russia, located on the Black Sea. It is part of the Port of Novorossiysk and serves as a key export point for russian and Kazakh oil, capable of loading tankers for global markets. The terminal is operated by Transneft and is linked to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal, with both facilities having temporarily suspended operations due to security alerts, - open sources.

Crude oil is shipped via 3 single point mooring buoys about 20 miles offshore. It's too shallow in port for other than lightering and product tankers. VLCCs have to be loaded offshore like Louisiana's LOOP

quote:

The Court of Cassation, Italy’s highest court, has ruled that a Ukrainian national, Serhii K., 49, suspected of involvement in the 2022 explosions that crippled the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea - which supplied Russian gas to Germany - cannot be extradited to Germany.

The Italian Court supported the defence's argument that there had been "incorrect legal classification of the facts underlying the European Arrest Warrant," lawyer Nicola Canestrini said in a statement.

The case will have to go before court again at a date that is still to be confirmed.

This is to be expected as the Italian court system makes quantum string theory look like child's play. But his avoccata has a point - other than being a professional diver and a Ukrainian (neither of which are crimes, even in Germany), what could Berlin possibly have as evidence?

Besides, in a German court "collusion to cause an explosion, anti-constitutional sabotage and destruction of important structures" will probably carry punishments of up to three weeks in detention. Two with good behavior.

But everything is politics, especially to those too-clever Germans that lost their shirts on the Gazprom play.

According to Ukrinform, Tymur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported this on Telegram.

“According to updated information, the death toll from the night strike has increased to five. My sincere condolences to the families and loved ones,” he said.

The State Emergency Service clarified on Telegram that all five victims were killed by a Russian drone strike on a nine-story building in the Desnianskyi district of the city. Emergency rescue operations are ongoing.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of November 14, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 430 drones and 19 missiles, most of which were ballistic. The main target of the strike was the capital.

Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk suspends oil exports after Ukrainian drone attack, sources say

By Reuters
November 14, 20253:26 AM CST

MOSCOW, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted oil exports on Friday after a Ukrainian drone attack, and oil pipeline monopoly Transneft (TRNF_p.MM) suspended crude supplies to the outlet, two industry sources told Reuters.

Transneft declined to comment.

Earlier on Friday, local government officials said Ukrainian drones had damaged a docked ship, apartment buildings and an oil depot in Novorossiysk, a key outlet for Russian oil exports.

That is why I found this as epitome of hypocrisy. Also, why would a non smuggler be able to afford so much horsepower for such small boats?

Big time misinformation here. The petrochemical industry in Puerto Rico flourished in the 1960's because raw material[oil products] in PR was given favorable treatment with respect to to the federally mandated two tier pricing program where US pricing was fixed at 30% above world oil. Special treatment was given to PR to use world oil pricing and sell products into the US market on that basis. And the kicker, Profits were federal tax free. When President Reagan did away with the two two tier system, the island industries immediately collasped immediately forever because it could never be competitive with ship delivery of oil/naptha raw materials.

Botom line, Do not make 25 years investments based on government price supports only. What the govt gives it will take away. Applies to windmills, solar panels and electric car prices supports across the US also.
