CinC Syrskyi inspects Pokrovsk front, stresses transparency and accuracy in reports
25.10.2025 22:20
In the Pokrovsk sector of the front, current tasks include searching for and destroying enemy sabotage-and-reconnaissance groups and destroying and taking prisoner Russian servicemen who are encircled.
This was reported on Facebook by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, according to Ukrinform.
He noted that he had made another trip to an active sector of the front.
Syrskyi held a meeting with commanders of army corps, brigades and military units that are conducting combat missions in the Pokrovsk sector and directly in the area of the town of Pokrovsk.
The Commander-in-Chief heard reports on the operational situation. A range of issues was discussed with the aim of strengthening defensive resilience and preventing further enemy advances.
“Tasks to search for and destroy separate enemy sabotage groups, and to destroy and capture enemy personnel who are encircled, remain current,” Syrskyi stressed.
The Commander-in-Chief issued the necessary orders to provide the Defense Forces with everything required, in particular to increase effectiveness in countering enemy UAVs and artillery.
Syrskyi reiterated to commanders at all levels the inadmissibility of falsifying or concealing information about the real situation in their reports.
“Dishonesty has too high a price — the lives of our soldiers. My primary demand is the truth, whatever it may be. A commander who conceals the truth about the situation on the battlefield has no right to be a commander,” the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.

Ukraine's General Staff confirms presence of Russian troops in Pokrovsk
Roman Petrenko — 26 October, 13:43
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that Russians have amassed around 200 troops in the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast.
Source: General Staff
Quote: "Regarding the situation on the approaches to Pokrovsk and within the city itself. The enemy, by using inter-positional space and infiltrating small infantry groups, has accumulated about 200 soldiers in the city.
Firefights are ongoing in the city, and UAV units are actively operating. Combat clashes are characterised by high dynamism and intensity."
Details: The General Staff stressed that the Russians are increasing the use of armoured vehicles in assault operations.
The military added that strengthening defensive resilience, coordinating troop actions, effective fire on the Russians and countering their UAVs and artillery remain priorities for the Ukrainian forces.
Background:
On 24 October, Ukrainska Pravda reported that at least 250 Russian troops are in Pokrovsk – they are engaging in firefights and killing Ukrainian soldiers, particularly drone operators, at their positions. Logistics into the city are fully controlled by Russian drones, forcing Ukrainian soldiers to walk 10-15 km to reach their positions.
After that, Hryhorii Shapoval, spokesperson for the Operational Command East, told media that street fighting continues in Pokrovsk but "the situation is controlled and expected, not critical". Troops walk to positions "to be less visible to the enemy".
Shapoval emphasised that no positions near Pokrovsk are cut off: "No one is isolated. Defence forces maintain formation."

Russia is trying to take advantage of poor weather and are using more armored vehicles. The success of these maneuvers appear to be limited, but isolated Russian infantry groups are giving Ukraine problems in and around Pokrovsk.

Key Takeaways
The Kremlin is attempting to leverage the visit of Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev to the United States to spread Kremlin narratives in the US information space.
Dmitriev effectively acknowledged that Ukraine has made compromises in its negotiating position while reaffirming that Russia’s maximalist demands from 2021 and 2022 remain unchanged.
Dmitriev attempted to appeal to what he perceives to be Trump administration interests in order to distract from Dmitriev’s statements, which demonstrate Russia’s continued unwillingness to engage in good-faith negotiations to end the war.
Russian State Duma deputies continue to publicly state that Russia has not changed its maximalist demands — contradicting Dmitriev’s attempts to obfuscate his reiteration of unchanged Russia’s demands in his interviews with US media outlets.
Dmitriev heavily promoted US-Russian economic cooperation while subtly alluding to Russia’s status as a nuclear power.
The British and French-led Coalition of the Willing met on October 24 in the UK to discuss further support for Ukraine and to put pressure on Russia.
Russian forces are making gains near Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad (directly east of Pokrovsk) that are significant but likely do not portend the imminent collapse of Ukrainian defenses in the area.
Russian forces are employing infiltration tactics in other areas of the front line for informational effects.
Russian forces continue attempts to leverage poor weather conditions to conduct larger mechanized assaults but continue to suffer high vehicle losses disproportionate to their gains.
Russian aircraft may have violated Japanese airspace on October 24.
Ukraine’s European allies continue to provide military aid to Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces advanced near Kupyansk, Pokrovsk, and Velykomykhailivka. Russian forces advanced near Lyman, Siversk, Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Velykomykhailivka.

"Russia faces a shrinking and aging population and tries restrictive laws to combat it"
Putin has launched initiatives to encourage people to have more children -- from free school meals for large families to awarding Soviet-style “hero-mother” medals to women with 10 or more children.
“Many of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers had seven, eight, and even more children,” Putin said in 2023. “Let’s preserve and revive these wonderful traditions. Having many children and a large family must become the norm.”
At first, births in Russia grew with its economic prosperity, from 1.21 million babies born in 1999 to 1.94 million in 2015.
But those hard-won gains are crumbling against a backdrop of financial uncertainty, the war in Ukraine, an exodus of young men and opposition to immigration.
Russia’s population has fallen from 147.6 million in 1990 — the year before the USSR collapsed — to 146.1 million this year, according to Russia’s Federal Statistics Service. Since the 2014 illegal annexation of Crimea, it has included the peninsula's population of about 2 million, as well as births and deaths there, in its data.
The population also is significantly older. In 1990, 21.1% was 55 or older, government data said. In 2024, that figure was 30%.

I normally just scroll past texag's posts without reading, but since y'all engaged with him, I'll remind people the main reason that I care about this conflict: I am Baptist, and Russia has systematically persecuted my Baptist brothers and sisters in occupied Ukraine. For example, in 2014, Luhansk had 42 Baptist churches, and all of them had been forcibly closed a year later. That same year, Russia officially branded the Baptist Union of Ukraine as a "terrorist organization." Russia wants the Russian Orthodox Church to be the only Christian church in the areas it occupies, because the ROC is directly controlled by the Kremlin.
Here's a story in the Baptist Press from a couple of weeks ago about a pastor from now-occupied Melitopol whose home in Kyiv was just blown up by Russia: LINK
quote:
KYIV, Ukraine (BP) – “I’m alive, I’m alive,” Pastor Mark Sergeev’s oldest son Christopher, 13, called from debris that seconds ago was the third floor of the Sergeev family home in Kyiv.
Everyone was accounted for except Sergeev’s youngest and 8-year-old son Aaron.
quote:
“When we got out on the street, I saw, it’s a miracle,” Sergeev told Baptist Press. “It’s only one wall that saved our lives. A couple of feet more, and I think the kids would have to be dead.
quote:
This is the second home Sergeev, pastor of Kyiv Ecclesia Church, has lost to the war. Russia confiscated his first home in Melitopol, he told Baptist Press, as well as his first church, Melitopol Christian Church, founded by his parents some 30 years ago in southeastern Ukraine. The family moved to Kyiv and planted Ecclesia in September 2024.
quote:
It is because of God that Sergeev chooses to remain in Ukraine and minister to the nation as it defends itself against Russia.
“Everybody in this world has a calling. I understand that I have a calling for Ukraine. Somebody has to be here,” Sergeev said. “And I see how many miracles happen here, right now. How many people come into the church.”
Sergeev baptized more than 10 soldiers, all new believers, within the past two months at Ecclesia, he said, as the church continues to grow. Soldiers, reservists and their families often visit the church.
“Some of them never before believed in God, but now they’re giving their lives to Christ. That’s why I understand that this is a very important opportunity for us as the pastors to lead and help them,” Sergeev said. “It’s encouraging me to do another wave, to do something, to build a church. That’s why I’m still here with my family.”
quote:
Sergeev asks Americans to pray for Ukraine, as he believes the war is a spiritual battle of Satan attacking the church.
“I want to ask, still pray, still stand with us, because this battle is not only about this piece of land,” he said. “This is a spiritual battle. The enemy came to destroy, to kill kids, people, cities, to destroy cities.”

Financial Times: Saab prepared to open production plant for Gripen jets in Ukraine
Saab is prepared to open a final-assembly plant in Ukraine as part of a proposed deal for Kyiv to buy up to 150 Gripen fighter jets, according to the Swedish defence group’s chief executive.
Micael Johansson told the Financial Times that a contract with Ukraine for 100-150 fighters would double Gripen production needs for Saab.

Ukraine has received some US F-16 fighters but the Gripens are seen as better suited for its needs because they were designed to combat Russia, can land and take off from normal roads, and have more flexible and lower maintenance requirements than the American jets.
A finalised contract would be a huge boost for Saab, which has sold 60 of the latest Gripen fighters to Sweden, as well as 36 to Brazil and four to Thailand.
Johansson said a Ukrainian deal would “more or less double the capacity needs” even as Saab currently invests to increase production capacity in Brazil to be able to produce about 20-30 Gripens per year.

Might as well call this the drone war.
Hey all your Putin lovers, I have decided to give you a plan to win the war so u can give it to him. (And because it suits my needs rn)
It’s really simple he just holds a joint news conference with China and tells the truth about the others, shows off one of the UFOs that crashed and recovered and how the US is stockpiling all the advancements that could change the world etc.
The deep state would be in complete panic, Trump would finally have to move against them and DARPA and the DOD would quickly be in self preservation mode. Nobody would give a frick about Ukraine, war would be over on his terms in weeks.
You are welcome comrades
