Waste is waste. What's good is these things are now are being looked at, people are now talking about it, and what's reasonable and what isn't will get fleshed out. Long overdue IMO.
Without the context and analysis behind a license audit and compliance check we don't know yet they it is waste. Seems like it but the facts here don't prove that without more details....

Nope. I cite this quote because that's what he said. If he can admit he's wrong, the Loyalists should learn from that.
If his quotes turn out to be correct, the other side should learn from that. It appears the conspiracy theorists and autist faction is up 37-0.

Some of you are going to be really disappointed if you ever figure out that "13k GSA employees" doesn't mean "13k people doing work for GSA."
If you have staff in the thousands and half of that is contractors (to justify the 2x licenses over staffing), you're already doing something wrong as contractors generally make more than GS employees.
And it doesn't matter how many workers you do or don't have, paying for thousands of WinZip licenses is just ridiculous and has been for well over a decade.
But thanks for playing.

Shhhh don't add complexities like contractors and vendor licensing. They aren't ready for nuances that might lead to these contracts.
This.

I have a 5 device license to my antivirus software because they don't sell a single license for the version I wanted. There's nothing wasteful or nefarious about anything they "found" here.
Yes, your personal needs are the same as the federal government.
You figured it out. They are buying 5 for every person because of minimum quantities.
Makes total sense.

I'm not interested in anything "the other side" has to offer. They're completely useless and their ideas are idiotic.

I mean there are 13k GSA employees but not 13k GSA employees working.
And the ones working don’t all use computers. There are janitorial staff, maintenance, cafeteria etc.
So, it’s even worse.

You're going to be really pissed off over the next few years, then.

You're a little late on that one, sport.
Nice try.

I work for a private company and had to justify my desire for PDF editor.
Denied
My job role says I should have my assistant or marketing do it since they already have licenses.
In fed gov, Shamika just signs off. Then Sally never audits the license list.

It's common knowledge janitors need WinZip.

How many of those fed gov employees actually use Tableau and if they do are they proficient?
FFS
Not proficient but it's probably needed because the data they are pulling from a much older outdated system will only work with Tableau

Those people aren't included in the 13k.

I’ve worked with Tableau some, most of those people with licenses likely cannot do much other than look at pretty graphs that others created

Those type are usually on the contractor/vendor list.

Seems wasteful. Even Louisiana has a centralized IT department.

The best humor is always based on reality.
‘My wife hates that fact.
Honey, do you know why that’s funny? Because it’s true.

What I'm saying is there is probably some system from the 90s that is pushing data into Tableau and that's the only way they can report it.
