Are you upset that the White House made a mistake? Do you even know the difference between the two awards? You do not even care about the award itself and what it means to those of us who have served. We mean nothing to you. All you care is that it is something that can be used to disparage the current administration.

You have just described the enitire playbook of the Democrat party - they have zilch, zero, nothing in their quivers but mockery, obstruction, and pouting.

Talk to us about your thoughts on Clinton and Biden not stepping up. Until then you are being a hypercrit

Does Hegseth make the claim or does the video?

Seems the video just stated it inaccurately considering he does in fact have two bronze stars

For a rationale, reasonable person, yes.

For an avowed Leftist? No.

I am still shocked about the medal (fruit salad) inflation in the current military. When I was in it was rare to get a NAM as a company grade officer and the MSM was the standard retirement medal. We would NEVER think to give a BSM for service.

Not going to disagree with you. It has gotten bad. And I say that as a recipient of a BSM for meritorious service (OEF 2003).

But when we think this is winning (granted, it is an Army not a Marine thing) then we have found the root of the problem.

No one tops Senator Blumenthal regarding the theft of valor.

Senator Cleland (GA) walked a very fine line with his injuries sustained during his service in Vietnam. But he did serve honorably in theater.

As a Marine you will have to enlighten me with what you are saying and what I am seeing. I am assuming each hash mark is a certain period of time of service. You could say we have something similar in our Sea Service Deployment ribbon (I have it with 2 stars) just showing you are forward deployed.

No problem Devil Dog. Yes, this is a unique part of the Army uniform.

Overseas Service Bar

An Overseas Service Bar is an insignia worn by United States Army soldiers on the Army Service Uniform, and previously on the Army Green (Class A) and the Army Blue (Dress Blue) uniforms, that indicates the recipient has served six months overseas in a theater of war.

There is a weird fetish for them. They validate your service. Rather than pointing out that we have not accomplished our mission of fighting and winning our Nation’s wars. The more you have the more you are seen as a “true” Soldier.

Does it count if you are say stationed overseas or is a deployment away from your duty station? If so it is basically equivalent to the Sea Service Deployment ribbon. Ours was created to recognized how many 6 month pumps you did aboard Amphibs but counts for ground deployments as well now (regardless if it is 6 months or 18 you get one per deployment).

Similar but not exactly the same. You have to be inside a designated combat theater to be awarded it. So it is not just a matter of being away from your permanent station for a period of time forward deployed (or in your example, at sea). Soldiers in Kuwait would not be authorized this (depending upon the time of the Iraqi conflict) while Soldiers in Iraq would.

It definitely created a world of haves and have nots. And in the end, the less you have the more successful we have been in fighting and winning our Nation’s wars.

To further elaborate, General (Ret) Mark Miley in his dress uniform (note his lower right sleeve). In our culture this is held in high regard. To me, it reeks of failure (which in the end, it was).

Compare that to a post-war photo of Major Dick Winters.

One fought a war to successful termination of hostilities and defeated a major power. Period.

The other propped up (along with many others - it was not him alone but a culture) the Forever War of the Military Industrial Complex against a third world foe (who won the conflict).

Sorry for the long rant. This is a personal thing with me.
