Yes. A party in control for one year in one country caused the downfall of the entire world's economy.

Egads. Progressivism is a special kind of historical ignorance.

Republicans suck. Before the Republican Party was created we had slavery under all the Democrat Presidents. Those were the days.

FDR's policies prolonged the Great Depression for 7 years.

UCLA

Two UCLA economists say they have figured out why the Great Depression dragged on for almost 15 years, and they blame a suspect previously thought to be beyond reproach: President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

After scrutinizing Roosevelt's record for four years, Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian conclude in a new study that New Deal policies signed into law 71 years ago thwarted economic recovery for seven long years.

Is this one of those times where liberals forget that they believe the parties switched?

You do realize the roaring 20s were some of the best years in us history for economic advancement, correct?

So... after just 1 election year (not even a full fiscal year) the Repubs brought down the great and thriving economy and turned it into a great depression.

Sounds to me like the FED Reserve striking back...

Also, Obama doubled the deficit in 8 years of controlling the economy. Yep, you guys know economics.

It had about as much to do with Republicans as the 2008 collapse. 2008 had much more to do with Bill Clintons fervent work to make it possible for anyone to own a home (with a mortgage). Some people cant afford it but laws and lending regulations were changed to allow people with crappy credit and shitty jobs to borrow 125% of a properties value.

No wonder it collapsed. Everyone should have skin in the game if they are going to own real estate.

"Obama inherited the Bush Economy"

"The Great Depression was the result of Republican House, Senate, and President happening in 1928."

Interesting. I'd love to read the report fully.

I'm curious though how they explain the fact that the Depression was global, not national. With America's level of isolationism pre-WWII, it's hard to imagine that it had that level of influence on global economic.
