Cameron Henry said they're not going to pass the 6-0 map so they're going to vote on the 5-1 today.

Will you believe it this time?

Well he just told me so yeah why would I not believe it.

That doesn't mean they can't pass a 6-0 through committee. It just wouldn't pass on the floor like the 5-1 will today.

We sure are lucky to have you here to explain things to the rest of us!

Please let everyone know when they schedule that committee hearing.

Do any white people live in the proposed District 2? How low of an IQ does the Legislature have?

The assignment was DO NOT draw lines based on race. Not to draw fewer districts based on race.

No way I'm voting for anyone who is on board with this.

What a fricking joke.

I hope it goes back to the courts.

That’s an awful fricking map.

St. Landry in a district with EBR but Pointe Coupee is not. What a joke.

I don't know why I had any hope.

Those fricking losers only worry about protecting themselves. They still gerrymandered a black district. Only difference is it wasn't done for black people. It was done so they didn't water down their own districts.

I hope the census fricks them in 2030.

SB121 will coming up for floor debate in the Senate shortly.

I'm hearing there will be more amendments and the lines will be moving, but it's still 5-1.

Yes. SB121 is the bill they're moving so watch the amendments to that bill.

This is still the very definition of gerrymandering. I don’t see how it could hold up to judicial scrutiny if it’s the map adopted as is.

Senate Floor Amendment, #3843, Morris, Jay, Proposed

Amendment - map on page 8

EDIT: Looks like major changes are in St. Landry and Pointe Coupee, with a minor change in Tangipahoa.

Looks like the amendment swapped Pointe Coupee (moved to 6) and N. St. Landry (moved to 5).

That's what it looks like - not very different than the map that left committee.

Doesn’t make a difference. The black parts of EBR & Ascension are literally carved out to make this district.

Morris is the absolutely wrong person to be the face and voice for this bill.

Price's amendment was not a terrible map. They should have taken it and tinkered with it rather than the abomination that stretches from New Orleans to past Baton Rouge

Gives Cleo a fighting chance if he wants it. I guess Landry did him a solid there.

Cleo already said he wouldn’t run against Carter.
