People can purchase that information.

This might get lost on you, but they aren't worried about you, only those who are voting illegally. But unfortunately to find out if there is voter fraud being taken place then this has to happen.

And being that the election being looked into is the federal election, I'd say they have every right to look into it.

I'll play. What new information would they get?

I saw email. What else?

I asked the other poster that specifically because of his assertions in the thread, not as some kind of gotcha. I assume you know that states deal with registration and voting records data, not the feds. Here the feds would get it, and at the individual-specific level.

Some have raised confidentiality concerns (like addresses + SSNs or whatever) but I don't care about that so much. My problem would be an appointee of some administration having my voting records; I like our system here where SOS is elected and has their own job & resources to do it independent of JBE. I certainly wouldn't want the feds overriding it

Erm..

my voting records

You don't want the Feds to have a list of the times you voted? Ok. I'm not a big fan of the Feds having a list of anything. But this one isn't in my top 50.

Anything else of note?

imo the most significant thing is definitely the providing of my party/reg/voting behavior which they do not have; the individual data items don't concern me

Bad news.

Schedler said they requested stuff beyond that which was releasable. But I don't like getting calls and mailers from groups who know my/my wife's reg and whether we voted last time either. That's more than bad enough imo

If you'll look at the bottom of the state page, voter history is part of the data for sale.

And how does getting my voter data prove I'm not a fraud? And if it doesn't, why do they want it?

MUH ILLEGAL VOTES now has someone claiming 20 million of them. This has now passed the point of total lunacy

It will give some indications on the controls the state has over potential fraud.

For example, are states allowing multiple registrations under a single SSN? Are there SSNs being reused with different names across states lines? Are known illegals registered to vote by simply affirming that they are eligible to vote? And did they subsequently vote?

So, he steps in it! He'd better make sure those Rolls are clean, because this issue is going to be front and center...very soon.

Yeah. That's as dumb as claiming we had 50M long-term uninsured citizens in 2008.

Fine. Then why the hell are they asking?

Because of crap like this in California....

California does not require proof of citizenship to vote (ie birth certificate or passport), and neither do any of the other states, despite the unconstitutional efforts of Kansas, Alabama and Georgia to make that a requirement.

Do I need a California State ID to Vote?

If you have voted before and your name is on the roster of voters, no. (note: You will be asked your name and address; the poll worker will repeat each back to you. Then you sign the roster of voters list. That’s it.)

If this is your first time voting and you are registered by mail without giving your California driver’s license or state identification number or the last four digits of your social security number, then you may need to show photo identification (e. g. valid driver’s license or state ID) or a paycheck, utility bill, or government document that shows your name and address.

All you need in California is a freaking utility bill with your name on it to vote.

So............ how many illegal immigrants are voting in California with these lax laws?

For integrity of voting, It is imperative for an investigation be completed for each state.

Again............. the Dems were all in to investigate Russia. Russia, Russia, Russia!!! So, they have to believe in voting integrity.

Or do they????? I say the Dems don't give a damn about voting integrity.

So the state is hypocritical enough to sell the data but then pretends it has the interests of its voters at heart when the Feds come around. I'm not surprised.
