I get what you're saying. He was actually asked about that and his response was really good. People like Bass, Newsome, et al are generally referred to as 'elites'. They have the resume, they have the credentials, etc, and yet based on actual results, they're almost universally incompetent, corrupt, and observably stupid. He also pointed out that when he was in his twenties he was a reality tv star. Bass was in Cuba learning how to be a revolutionary and destroy the United States. If you forget about credentials and just listen to what he's saying, he's actually kind of impressive. I think it says a lot about where we, and specifically LA and CA are when someone just talking sense seems like a political Godsend.

Ok, i kind of understand from that POV.. i also understand competence vs incompetence, that makes sense .. what i dont understand is the whole problem with ‘elite’.. because of two reasons :
1) if im voting for a President or a Governor- i WANT someone who is elite.. i want someone who is smarter and more qualified than i am.. why ? B/c i know i could never be President , nor would i aspire to be .
2) Crying about ‘elites’ seems to me to be some sort of emotional, female reaction, like ‘They look down on ME.. They think they are better than ME !’… This type of rhetoric coming from the “frick your feelings” crowd has always seemed to me to be very rich…. It also reeks of personal insecurity .

I don't really disagree. I think the problem is the current definition of 'elite'. I'll take someone with a successful policy track record, someone who has shown they can manage a bureaucracy and get things done. Today it's simply a matter of credentials: you went to certain schools, hung out with certain people. As I said most of these people are grossly incompetent and obviously stupid, yet, they're considered 'elite'.
