Just depends on the angle of impact. A glancing blow and he would have probably given a press conference already. A square on impact from the front/back, or a direct impact from the side with that caliber could have killed him inside a minute or two

Watching the vid from where the shooter was and Scalise playing 2nd base, it was probably a pretty square impact from the front. God willing that he makes it thru, he will probably limp the rest of his life, which would be a great outcome right about now

just me throwing a hypothetical out there...

what if it was a ricochet? took a hop off the ground... consider a loss of velocity

Not to get too gory, but a military round impacting the joint of the femur and the pelvis or striking transverse through the side of the sacrum would cause extensive crippling injury. If bone splinters from the shattered hip lodge in the blood vessels, it is possible that they might be missed in the initial surgical treatment of the wounds. Further, and most unfortunately, if he lost so much blood that he lost consciousness, it is very likely that repeated administration of anesthesia on multiple surgeries might result in anoxia due to insufficient oxygen via blood supply to the brain. I know this person and pray for his recovery. He is a nice guy.

They're not going to stop because they literally have no platform to advance their political agenda these days. The Democratic Party is a sinking ship and their motto is "deflect, deflect, deflect".

Sick people these modern day libetards.

Their agenda is the accumulation of power by buying cotes with other people's money. That is a tough sell, got to find enough people to lie when they run for office and say they won't vote with Pelosi/Schumer 90% of the time, with a straight face.

Their strategy is perfectly encapsulated when Harry Reid was asked about lying about Romney not paying takes and he said, "Well, we won didn't we?"

Anyone seen any updates on Scalise? I googled but it all looks like the same information from last night. I've been praying for him.

No updates seems like a bad thing right now. Maybe I'm just pessimistic.

Has anybody heard when the Navy is going to commission a ship after Scalise??? I hope Hillary is still around to attend it like she did Gifford's!

Steve has now survived the first 24 hrs and it's this next 24-36 hrs that are critical. If he can make it through that then I'll feel much better. He still has at least a dozen more surgeries ahead of him. Really just asking for people to keep he and his family in your prayers. His two kids need it the most with what they are dealing with right now.

And not so long ago, I would have agreed with this. However, there have been tremendous advances in orthopedics over the past 10 to 15 years. I agree that he may have effects from it the rest of his life. But, depending on the nature and extent of damage to the large bones and joint surfaces, they have so much ORIF hardware, synthetics, replacement joints, etc. - hips are way trickier than knees, so that caveat in place - it's cliché, but there is no better time in history to have such an injury than this moment.

It certainly looks grave. Fox just said he still has internal bleeding and if they can't get it under control, he could lose the battle. The next 36 hours are critical.

Bunch a dumb in your post. Geez...

Scalise and his family need prayers. The news hasn't been very good on his fight to survive. I sure hope that changes. It would be a shame for that heathen to have been successful.

Guy doesn't really warrant a response. From what I can tell, his singular goal is shooting for the title of worst troll on here. Such a wonderful aspiration.
