Juneteenth seems like an arbitrary holiday to me. It is the celebration of emancipation making it to Texas

It's been a Texas state holiday my whole life. It's celebrated on Juneteenth because that's when it was effected. Kind of a big deal. Nothing arbitrary about it.

I have no issue with it being a national holiday.

The Emancipation Proclamation was a seminal moment of US History.

Kwanzaa...not so much.

Billy Graham said in a sermon that Jesus Christ belongs to Africa as much as he belongs to North America, Europe, or anywheres else. If they want unity they can find it in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Agreed on all counts

Kwanzaa isn't even as old as my parents And it has little cultural impact as of right now. Might change in future generations (you never know), but I highly doubt it will. Shoehorning in a niche, race-specific celebration between culturally significant Christmas and New Year's just isn't viable.

I said that Trump should have pushed for it.

He didn’t, such is life.

The melts by the communazis would have been most enjoyable.

On the third day of Kwanzaa my hoe gave to me 3 packs of grape kool-aid, 2 fo’tees of ole English, and one swisher sweet blunt.

For Texans, I agree it isn’t arbitrary. For the nation, it seems arbitrary. There are other dates that seem to be more important that could have been used as a national celebration.

Police relations with American citizens in general need to change and all races can benefit. It's a shame so many people are miss informed when younger about the police being their friends.

At best police are civil servants doing a jobs, at worst you die in their custody.

These two are not nearly as statistically likely as you imply, but ignoring reality is part of your job.

Here is what I said in a previous post:
quote:

Why not celebrate the date of the signing of the proclamation, itself? Is it because it was done in January 1st? What about the passing of the 13th amendment which outlawed chattel slavery everywhere in America? That was done in December 6th.

I’m black and have never met anyone who seriously celebrates this retarded “holiday.”

Damn I’m getting sick of the maternal attitude from white people. But, it is convenient because it lets me know you don’t actually see blacks as equal, only people you need to care for.
