You’d probably have to (or want to, perhaps) damn near “rebuild” said infrastructure anyway, simply to modernize it and make it more efficient, it for nothing else.

Yes. But it’s doubtful the MEU will occupy that island. If Trump does decide to use ground troops to control the strait I would guess Rangers would take Kharg and the MEU would focus on the islands in the strait of Hormuz

USMC EXPEDITIONARY UNIT headed into the region. Amphibious/Helo assault on Kharg Island, with Regional Arab support, would bring the Iranians to their knees, and drive the Chinese insane.
