re: Kennedy running for governor--the perfect "anybody but JBE" candidate

what are your issues with JBE?
Big spender
corrupt--but legally corrupt--he makes his money after his term is over by collecting from those he is directing state business and lawsuits now. His cousins are going to get a casino adjacent to their property in Tangipahoa for example and all kinds of JBE supporting law firms are getting big bucks from the state.

Kennedy running for governor

In this case experience.
He gave a radio station an interview saying he is seriously considering running---that means he is in so long as the republican money people put their money on him instead of some other candidate. It is a signal.
He might not run latter but it won't be because he isn't running now. He is positioning. He is saying "don't put your money on these other guys--I am in".
If someone like Scalise says they are going to run I doubt he will run but until he thinks he can't win he is running.
If the big money people get behind another candidate he won't officially run.
You really are not so naive to think that announcement was anything other than a positioning statement do you?
He would not have mentioned it otherwise.

So your title can say "I think Kennedy is going to run against JBE."
I clicked on this thread thinking it was going to be about Kennedy announcing his candidacy. Your threads have very frustrating clickbait titles.

I wonder if he will need Mudflap again to push him over the top. He used her to good effect in his senate campaign. I just ask her about it and she says she will do it again but for more money and better snacks at the shot.
This is Mudflap, my Basset in his commercial:

Kennedy is a snake and rino loser who did nothing but beat the war drum about taxes yet never actually did or accomplished anything. For some reason, republicans in this state never have seen past his act.

JBE is no win.
If JBE has his way today every oil company would be the target of a massive state sponsored lawsuit given to JBE lawyer cronies on contingency.
IDK much about that to speak to it, all I know is JBE's a Blue Dog Dem (not a progressive libtard), Kennedy's a pragmatist, Landry from what I know/heard/read is hard-core conservative, from that perspective I think it's a win-win situation for the state in totality

You do realize that a Kennedy win in the governor's race puts Landry in the United States Senate, right?
I haven no problem with that. Landry should never have to buy another beer ever again in Louisiana since he put Buddy Caldwell into retirement.

He literally just won Senator. Is he just running for governor because he can just fall back to the Senate if he loses?

Supposedly, Kennedy's eyes have always been on the governor's mansion.

Supposedly he ran as a liberal Democrat as recent as 2008. I don't trust a damn thing that comes out that old fossil's mouth. He was essentially a Scott Angelle who finally got lucky in 2016.

Pretty much. He was lucky that the dem in that race was a complete idiot.

Not a fan. Seems like he'd be in the line asking Zuckerberg where his wall is and what it means. Too old school.

JBE wins excpet against Kennedy or Scalise.
Scalise is the strongest potential challenger but wants Speaker of the House but my jump ship if Dems take over this year.
Kennedy is 2nd and the most likely challenger. Kennedy is the safest run for the GOP because if he losses GOP wont lose a senate seat. If Kennedy wins, Landry will likely be appointed to the Senate.
Landry is a shoe in for re-election at AG. The last think the GOP needs is to lose the AG position while running to many people for governor. This the safest GOP move IMO.
JBE is stronger than people think so the GOP cant split the vote like last time.
I have heard Vitter is grooming Graves but it will not be for this cycle. Vitter still controls the biggest GOP purse.

He’s taken on the persona of “Senator Cornbread,” and it’s been driving me crazy. I’ve spoken with Kennedy. He doesn’t talk like that in private conversation.
Posted on 4/13/18 at 1:31 am to I B Freeman
Kennedy may not be perfect or even great at all but I can live with him considering that political twin of Edwin Edwards that we have on the 4th floor right now.
We've lost tons of population, jobs are disappearing, oil and gas refuses to invest here, taxes have gone out of our arse with nothing to show for it and government has gotten bigger with more wasteful spending and bureaucracy.
JBE needs to be fired.

Haha, he may not have gotten lucky personally for himself but he sure as shite got lucky making sure a tax and spend liberal would win the governor's mansion against a legit bona fide conservative in David Vitter.
Clay Higgins will always have my and other conservative's personal gratitude for finally putting that backstabbing piece of shite out to pasture and out of LA Politics forever.

Then you have not been paying attention.
He has repeatedly spoke on the need to sue the oil companies and to allow the lawsuits to be advanced on behalf of the state by crony private lawyers on contingency. Landry has stood in the way of his plans.

I'm not sure that the threat of some law suits is what is keeping more development of oil in Louisiana from happening.
If you truly want an incompetent moron running the state then Landry is your man
