What are you babbling about? The President of the United States shouldn't be involved in these construction issues. He should be focusing on tasks that are uniquely part of the president's job.

Appoint a non-partisan Board that is primarily interested in making the Kennedy Center the best it can be...who aren't politicallly motivated to make an illegal and disrespectful name change. Hire experts to oversee the MILLIONS in dollars that Congress long ago allocated for repairs.

You say this

quote:

The Kennedy Center has been under the control of Chairman Trump and his Board for almost a year and a half. They have had plenty of time to fix the roof.

And then you say this

quote:

What are you babbling about? The President of the United States shouldn't be involved in these construction issues. He should be focusing on tasks that are uniquely part of the president's job.

Who is the one babbling? I repeat, go frick yourself.

Of course, you left out the fact that I said it was ridiculous that a sitting president would appoint himself Chairman, but once he accepted responsibility, he couldn't blame basic maintenance issues on others.

Congress has allocated millions of dollars of our money. What has been the holdup? The Board is holding the Center hostage to get the Court to agree to the name change. Never going to happen unless the enabling statute of the Kennedy Center is repealed. (Just like the President can legally change the names to Lake Ontario and the Gulf of America, but he can't do the same in changing the name of the Department of Defense.)

Well you can look at 2 things that were true when Trump was inaugurated: Financial condition/cash on hand, and the condition of the structure. On both fronts it was in a world of hurt by any measure.

Plenty of time indeed.

Absolutely. Everyone recognizes the Kennedy Center has long needed repairs.

That's why Congress allocated $257 million dollars to fix the Kennedy Center in July 2025. Why hasn’t that money been spent to at least make the roof/ceiling safe for over a year? Who has had control of the Center AND adequate funding during that time?

President Trump has been a builder his entire life. He told these people the building needed to be closed and renovated. Just like he told them the Fed building was a boondoggle. And the White House needed a new ballroom and secure facilities. But no, TDS dictates that these idiots refuse to listen to the subject matter expert.

Democrats would rather steal all the cash than fix anything. They allocate trillions for infrastructure improvements…where’s the fixes?

Stolen

What a weird stopping pt. Any particular reason you stopped at 18 years?

The Board has approved the use of those funds and decided that the best, most efficient use of that money would require closing the center for 2 years. Special interests and Federal court judges have stopped them from implementing that plan.

President Trump is a great president. He has been a much better president than JFK was. On that level, Trump has been truly transformative.

On a personal level, Trump is jealous of the man JFK was: a young, fit, active, handsome, decorated war hero. JFK is the only president to have earned a Purple Heart. Trump and Biden are tied for the most draft deferments. JFK's
universally-admired wife actually lived with JFK in the White House.

It makes sense that Trump can't abide JFK getting all that glory to himself. Trump needs equal billing with JFK to share that glory because Trump is a malignant narcissist (in addition to being an effective president). It's weird that adults would pretend that's not what is going on here. It's even weirder that people who love America and value military service and sacrifice for country would support it.

Congress (not private donors or Trump himself) allocated $275 million of public money in July of 2025. Rather than spend that money to fix the most immediate safety problems with the Center, Trump’s Board has made only cosmetic changes (including the name on the building... which is STILL covered by a tarp). The strategy is to withhold spending the money in an effort to force the Court to allow the Board to ignore the statutory limitations and let Trump do whatever he wants with the Center...including putting his name on it.

The renaming of the Center CRATERED revenue and projected revenue. That caused a projected $100 million dollar loss for the Center. To shield that, FOR THE FIRST TIME, the Board suddenly discovered that the Center needed to be closed for two years.

Many of you in this thread have personally attacked me for stating the facts which none of you detractors can refute. I admit this topic is personal to me.

The first thing I remember seeing on TV was JFK's funeral. The image of the rider less horse (which choked up even my otherwise perpetually stoic WWII combat veteran father) is something I will never forget.

For all of you who have insulted me and told me to go frick myself, believe me, the feelings of hostility and disgust are mutual. In terms of who deserves the honor, I will stick with the man who was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, for “extremely heroic” combat actions in 1943. I will let y'all argue for giving Commander Bone Spurs equal billing with JFK on JFK's memorial.

If Trump wants to share a memorial to another businessman president (such as Herbert Hoover) who also didn't serve in the military, that wouldn't be nearly as offensive. Mind you, it's STILL weird that a sitting president would want his name on a MEMORIAL to a dead president....

Bu the properly appointed Board did not condition the use of the $257m on changing the name. They conditioned its use on shutting the center down for 2 years. And they did so for safety and financial reasons.

they are two separate issues, and a Court has ruled that only Congress can change the name. So what is the issue with the letting the Board shut down the Center and repair it - it is their call to make - legally speaking it seems to me.
