It’s arrogant, elitist, British pride that has been simmering below the surface for nearly 100 years. As the United States has ascended the British Empire has withered on the vine. It’s the kind of jealousy that leads you to make foolish decisions not in your best interests because you’re so consumed with trying to spite us. A recent example of this would be Lloyd’s of London cancelling all shipping policies for vessels traveling in the Persian Gulf. They did it to spite Trump but what they also did was give the United States an opening into the insurance market that has been effectively controlled by Britain for decades if not centuries. Someone posted a fascinating article about it yesterday.
