I think the Rs know they don't have the votes in the full Senate right now, and they need to let this go on until they do.

This is even further proof that Senate Republicans are controlled opposition.

That may happen but would Kav be able to be seated in this next coming up session that starts, I have read, on Oct 1?

He can be seated any time after Senate approval. He probably wouldn't be a part of any decisions that he wasn't sitting for at the time arguments were given. That's the only thing. I've seen some posters make the erroneous claim that he has to be seated by Oct 1, but that's just not true. He could even make decisions for rulings he didn't hear arguments for, but imagine the outcry. These are just shenanigans; will soon be forgotten.

Then why the shiteshow they are putting on now?

Are there any dem or repub party people who go on here to see what the deplorables or dregs are talking about?

WTF, they should just be honest with the people rather than this pitiful mess.

I get what Grassley is TRYING to do - he’s smart enough to know she’s full of shite and has no room to make demands. He either wants her to talk to prove there’s no there there or give her enough opportunities that no one - even the Dems - can have doubts and leave a cloud over Kavanaughs judgeship.

He’s actually trying to do the right thing but isn’t taking into account the fact that the other side is using this as a game to stall and doesn’t want her to testify. He thinks they have the right intentions like he does, he’s naive while everyone else can see it clearly.

I also wouldn’t put it past him to have an ace up his sleeve he’s been holding for questioning that’ll put the whole thing to rest while he can still say they gave her a fair shake. The man is on the Gang of Eight and has very extensive research teams at his disposal. This may be where the PGA golfer story comes into play. He reeeeeeally wants her to testify, and there’s only so many reasons why.

Either way his fellow congressmen and Trump won’t let him put the vote in danger, but DAMN does it make him look foolish and his base frustrated.

If they're going to let an unfounded accusation about a judge that happened when he was allegedly 17 bar him from the SCOTUS, then they might as well cut their balls off, put them in a jar, and hand them to Diane Fienstien for safe keeping

RB - that is a plausible reason to stall. Slow rolling this to cover every angle to make her testify knowing full well he has the dagger in his back pocket.

Well I hope that’s the reason anyway

Anyone know what cases are coming up in October for the SC that could be part of the reason for the delay?

There are four people who matter: Flake, Murkowski, Collins, and Corker. If they had the assurance they'd all vote yes, they vote ASAP. We're not there yet

That just looked like Tucker opining. He didn’t cite anything.

There it is; the Senate is key, and it's all about the Midterms.

A lot of women vote based on their feelings; women are half the Electorate. Even a slight diss of their feelings in close election States that Trump hopes to win, can be fatal. I know it sucks, but such is the Achilles heel of a Democratic government. The vote of an idiot is as powerful as that of the best of our kind.

Grassley has done a fine job. I can imagine how frustrated He is. As long as they vote before Thursday, it's the best we can do. Take it to the Mids; that's where the next 2 years - dysfunction or progress - will be determined.

A ton of stuff to be dumped into the electoral mix between now and Nov. 8.
