You may be thinking of Fort McClellan in Anniston. It’s decommissioned now but was once a chemical warfare training center. Redstone in Huntsville may have also, but definitely McClellan.

Don't forget the shuttle program. All of the shuttle engines were tested at Redstone facility. My step grandfather was the facilities manager and we actually got to attend one of the test firings in the late 80s. Huntsville Space Museum is legit, too.
