Since he was a "minor" when he committed the murder, and got out of a death penalty charge, can his parents be sued in civil court?

If so, that would be a glorious way to see the GOFUNDME money that was wasted on them, along with the misappropriation of the funds to purchase real estate etc, go to the family of the victim.

That would take a little of the sting off the sentencing for many.

Karmelo. One L.

He is, by the way, nephew of LSU's Andre Anthony.

Good luck on finding a lawyer to take that case, blood out of a turnip comes to mind.

Generally speaking, parents are not responsible for the torts committed by their minor kids, but there are exceptions that vary by state and I don’t pretend to know them all. Also—and I think this is where the action could be—parents are responsible for their own negligence if it contributed to the minor committing a tort. For example, negligently entrusting a minor with mental problems and violent ideations. Some questions to ask would be whether the parents knew he carried a knife on him, had violent tendencies, etc.

I don’t give a shite if he’s Joe Burrow’s nephew. He did what he did, and now he has to pay for it.

This would be a large waste of time and money for the Metcalfs. They should just take the verdict and try to move on with their lives.

The odds that the parents would be found liable for the intentional acts of their 17 year old son are very, very low.

Or maybe his parents couldn’t spell “caramello”. Those people have been known to just sort of wing it when it comes to spelling.

You might be nicer if you gave yourself a hand job.
