This screams they don’t have enough time to replace her before January 3rd.
Like previously mentioned, this could turn out to be another RBG situation over the next 4 years.
Trump could at most replace another 4 judges over this next term.
That’s wild.

This comes off as hyperbole, but It's probably factual.

Sotomayor, a liberal, tried during the Friday hearing to emphasize the danger posed by the omicron variant of the virus. She said, “We have over 100,000 children, which we’ve never had before, in serious condition, and many on ventilators.”
Facts First: Sotomayor’s claim about children wasn’t even close to accurate. According to federal data at the time Sotomayor spoke, fewer than 5,000 people under the age of 18 were hospitalized in the US with confirmed or suspected cases of Covid-19

Good. That means that Trump or Vance will get another justice on the court when the 'Beetus finally gets her.

She has severe diabetes. They're worried about her croaking.

Lifetime appointment and you have a staff. You essentially vote yea or nea on an issue and you get your clerks to write the narrative on why you chose that decision with the most verbal gymnastics and case law that every court in the US should follow.

For those of you who think SCOTUS will be 7-2 conservative in next 4 years I would like to remind you that conservative appointees don't always stay conservative once they are on the court.
Go ahead and down vote, but I am being realistic.

This isn’t really a surprise.
I was shocked that Dems were dumb enough to thing they could shove her replacement through between now and the end of December.

Won’t necessarily be 7-2 votes but replacing Sotomayor means there won’t be a reflexively stupid Dem vote on nearly all cases.
Even KJB has shown she isn’t as dumb as Soto.

Despite calls from some liberal activists for Justice Sonia Sotomayor to step down while Democrats can fill her seat before political power changes hands in January,
Honest question, does she have enough time for this? Quick glance shows they are only in session for another 5 weeks (not including today) for the rest of the year. They would need her to step down, get nominations in front of the Judiciary Committee, then a vote from the full Senate. With that said, aren't there ways for the republicans to slow/delay the process and let it drag out.

Obama knew EXACTLY what he was doing in nominating her. He was openly mocking the system.

The vetting process alone for a new candidate would probably take more time than they have.

There is nothing more I’d love to see than her kicking the bucket in February or March and Trump replacing her with a conservative man.
The liberals would absolutely lose their minds.

Was king of what I was thinking, just curious that if there is a "legal" way for the dems to push this through
