Just how bad of a mayor is Sharon Weston Broome?

Down here in NOLA, LaToya Cantrell takes office in a couple of weeks.

While we are all very happy to see Mitchy go, it's becoming very, very obvious that LaToya has no idea what in the heck she is doing.

So far, her two major political bonifides have been:

1) Taking advice from the money laundering, girlfriend-beating Derrick Sheppard

2) Considering the worst police chief in NOLA history, Warren Riley, to be Homeland Security director

If Desi Charbonnet would have run, we would have returned to the Morial years, where the trains ran on time, police cracked skulls, and most city spending went into corrupt pockets.

So... with some time now with SWB... is she so incompetent and clueless as to be harmless, or is her cluelessness ruining the city?

She is incompetent, but far from harmless. Moved to mid-city from Denham, and swore I'd never move back. Now, I'm not so sure

Her incompetency is the BR status quo. Nothing has improved. She is, however, greatly enhancing the chances of St. George, which i'm sure will happen under her tenure. So for that, SWB, we thank you.

Neither Cantrell nor Charbonnet were good candidates, but I think Charbonnet would have been the lesser of two evils.

Cantrell has serious personal finance issues with garnishments, defaults, tax issues, inappropriate spending, etc. This is a major concern of mine.

Broome isn't a bad mayor. While she's certainly been underwhelming, I can't think of anything she's actively fricked up.

She represents benign neglect.
Cantrell represents straight up malfeasance.

That's par for the course for Nola mayors recently. Kinda hard to be bitter when idiots keep voting them in. I know very educated and well-reasoned people in Nola who were fawning all over Cantrell like she walks on water. I literally don't get it.

Yep, you're not buying a couple of acres on Bayou Paul Lane without deep pockets. Neighboring parishes always benefit from urban unease.

When considering the continuing slouch of this city, only slightly less.

There's an added consideration with all that comes with Latoya. She's a fellow "graduate" along with Mitch of the globalist-oriented Aspen Institute leftist nest.

The sole reason he didn't openly endorse her was to avoid hurting her candidacy. But she's in every way a seamless continuance of Mitch's world vision and approach to gov't.

Really, that’s the best you’ve got? An early hiring mistake that got almost immediately remedied?

Her solution to the murder problem in North BR is to tow away the broken down cars and change the street lights

She is a New Coke level bad idea.

To respond to the earlier post who thinks the best thing about her is that she hasn’t fricked anything up . . . That would require her to actually do something.

She spent six figures on a study about whether there should be a study about something. You don’t get more ridiculously atrocious do nothing government than that.
