No clue. Whole Foods is overpriced yuppie bullshite. Go to an actual farmer's market, or better yet, talk to farmers directly and see what you can do. You're paying for their overhead and labor, not the quality of the food. As far as soft drinks are concerned, I am completely ignorant of their selection.

But there is no sugar in those soft drinks. It's all high fructose corn syrup.

Tax this shite and the government will be rolling in cash.

I live not too far from boulder and you're exaggerating a good bit. Downtown is a hotbed but most of the city, while liberal, is mostly full of people that just don't give many fricks about what you do with your life and are more or less confined to a party that doesn't meet their needs.

I laugh as much as anyone at the man buns, long boards, and all the assholes with their signs but overall it's a great place

quote of the entire thread that everyone is missing out on. high fructose corn syrup is bad for us. Are there any colas remaining that are just sugar?

Yep. Regular sugar is broken down into glucose and fructose and can be metabolized all over the body. High fructose corn syrup is broken down exclusively in the liver. They are completely different.

Also, the only soft drinks I know of that are still made with real sugar are Mexican cokes. I love them. Completely different taste and they don't leave me feeling like my liver is working overtime to metabolize them like regular American soft drinks.

It is about the tax revenue and has nothing to do with health.

So, another 12 cents on a can of Coke is going to discourage the simple and undisciplined poor folk from buying it? Yeaaahhh!

It won't.

However, the coke machines at my dad's work went up something like 10 cents and he began buying some sort of water flavoring out of protest. Will he return to the sodas? You bet

Do progressives and liberals not understand that if the government regulates what you can and cannot put in your body, then no one's body is their own.

What's being regulated?

Gas stations, Home Depot, Walmart grocery stores. I've even seen them at Best Buy. They come in old school glass bottles. The place where I get them can't keep them on the shelf.

I get them for like a 1.40. Some places might be 2 dollars. I've found that they are cheaper than regular cokes which are over 2 bucks in my area.

I nearly cried when I learned that they put a Cook-Out in Tuscaloosa. I've eaten so many damn 1/2 lb out-west burgers.

I spent the best decade of my life there ( 90s). You'd be surprised how many Conservatives live there.

Shouldn't the same tax be rendered on fruit juices, like orange juice, apple juice, etc? They contain about the same amount of sugars.

Whenever a food is taxed, the government tells us how bad that food is for us.
Same with cigarettes, don't hear a thing until they want to raise the tax and suddenly smoking is bad.

This just proves that the government doesnt give a frick about the health of its constituents, not that the food is not unhealthy.

Do you actually believe marijuana is more harmful to one's health than excess sugar?

Make sure you check the label. There are glass bottle cokes that contain corn syrup. The Mexican cokes will say sugar on the label.

Are you talking about the video that circulates around Facebook in which a burger was dipped in acid? Yeah, that video is extremely misleading. It was taken from a longer video and in context it's not what it was made out to be.

So stupid. None of those numbers are actually knowable except for possibly the revenue.
