I will never forget that night. I was in South Dakota fishing with my dad and uncle, had a great day catching walleye and after dinner I decided to just take a peek at the results. Probably around 7:30 central.
With my campaign and election background, I "get" the math that is needed to win the White House pretty well and looking at the early results and what states were in play, I started texting some of the people I used to run campaigns with. We were all in agreement, Trump had a path - a very viable path.
So much for sleeping, I started watching the hard left channels, primarily MSNBC and CNN, to watch the melts. I drifted off to sleep, and at some point around 4:30 am my dad heard the TV and came out. As he was placing a blanket on me, I woke up and he noticed the TV. He literally said, "What is this bullshite?" I told him Trump won and he didn't believe me.
My dad seriously thought I was playing a joke on him. I finally convinced him Trump won and he was elated.
