I know a gay couple that feels the same way.

Nowhere in anything you quoted does it say marriage is a "right."

So still no law that says marriage is a "right"?

We don't need a law that says that explicitly. We have a law that sets it up for a group and not for another. The constitution provides the right.
ETA: Remove the law that allows men and women to marry and my point, by necessity, disappears.

The thing is, its over. It really is. At some point you have to count your losses and save face. Continuing to oppose gay marriage at this point is just not smart politically.

What have I lost and what do I need to save face for? But thanks for your concern. I'm sure it is sincere....

Ahhh
SO what you are saying is you wish to impose "your" morals on the rest of us.

My bad, post wasn't meant to be directed at you, but to those republicans who continue to publicly oppose gay marriage. Hence the part of my post where I say its "not smart politically." It just makes the GOP look bad. Its time to accept it and move on.

Yeah...if he sat and thought about it...if this is his "reason" to oppose gay marriage then he is being stupid.
When gays get married they aren't hooking up with others or spreading diseases...any more then a hetro couple.

Have you seen the quality of lesbos getting married? About a poly board zero. (That's a negative OT 4).

How is that different from you wanting to impose your morals on others?

quote:Marriage is a privilege afforded only to some. You can't do that. Rights and rights are different. It may be best to start capitalizing them, or something. We mean some in an almost sacred way, and some we refer to based on law.
We have rights enumerated in other laws and in the constitution. I've yet to see anywhere that marriage is one of those rights.
Gays have a right to access to marriage, because some people are afforded access to it.

....yet I would STILL rather think about ugly arse lesbos getting it on before letting the idea of "male butt secks" enter my consciousness. My point remains.

Good.
Congrats to Arizona applying due process and equal protection for their citizens when it comes to a fundamental and constitutionally protected right, the right to marry.
