Are you really so stupid to think I care. I want them locked up away from society.
Punishment has been shown to be effective. Look at countries that remove body parts for stealing and then explain why their theft rate is so low.

If the punishment is severe enough it helps stop crime has been proven in multiple countries.
I don't believe you.
Let's see a link.
Here are some of mine. Let me know if you need more.

This one specifically looked at cross-national circumstances and concluded that moderation in penalties was actually more effective at deterring crime than harsh punishments. LINK
There's lots more if you want them.
I'll wait for your links demonstrating the opposite point of view.

I already did.
Enforcement is very rigorous in those same countries (Singapore, Saudi Arabia), which means the likelihood of being caught is high.

You make a good point there (the first one you've made, in fact). It IS stupid for me to continue to argue with an obvious cretin with nothing to back up his baseless assertions that have been disproven many times.
Get down in the mud with a pig, you just get dirty and the pig likes it, right?
O.k. pig, you've convinced me of what a waste of time it is for me to continue this conversation.
Oink it up without me.

Do you know why gangs use kids to steal and run drugs? Because they know they won't be punished and be back out fast. Make the punishment severe enough and the gangs would stop using kids. Why can't you understand something so simple...

Longer sentences can be a deterant and crime is also reduced with criminals being off the streets. They go hand in hand.
Yes, you're correct that some studies show that punishment doesn't stop crime yet other studies show they do. Punishment should also be used to protect society.
Do you believe that crime should have severe consequences or what is your beliefs?

the law requiring longer sentences has been effective in lowering crime. Within three years, crimes covered by the law fell an estimated 8 percent. Seven years after the law changed, these crimes were down 20 percent.

Honestly, 25 years is a bit harsh, but at least he'll be behind bars for a spell.
Not for this case and the seemingly growing casual disregard he has for the lives of others.

That dude will likely never get out of prison. He will either get killed, or kill someone and get additional time.

Does the family of black folk think they shouldn’t be punished?
Yes. That's exactly what 95% of them think.

frick a deterrent. Put the criminals behind bars for lengthy sentences. Prison should be about segregating criminals from civilized society.
We talk too much about what someone deserves, what is fair, etc. If you are a violent person, then you forfeit your life.
Also - a teenager with neck tats is never going straight.

This great. If everyone of these guys were actually taken off the streets we would have to build hard labor camps all over the place to keep them caged. I would support the funding for this. It would also prevent further breeding.

Let me guess, another restorative justice dork?

Some black youth kicked in a man's door to rob him and he shot them. The black families then tried a lawsuit on him.
