This particular instance isn’t a case of refusing to “just try” something. It’s refusing to perform CPR on a cadaver.
No one has ever been brought back to life after being pronounced dead.
Also, why are they still intubating people? That's a death sentence. I remember that health "experts" in April 2020 were saying that vents were a mistake. They need oxygen, not pressure. Yet. Here we are... still trying stupid shite that doesn't work and ignoring things that do. Congrats on being a class A moron.

Cadaver in the sense of a body being used for dissection; not a person who just went into cardiac arrest.

The usuals melting about ivermectin
quote:and I’m probably quite a bit less tolerant towards that practice than you might be used to. I never have a problem with questioning. Ever. Refusal to follow a Doctor's Order is a different matter.
We tell doctors to pound sand quite frequently for wanting to do stupid shite, so I’m probably a little more callous towards that practice than you might be used to.
In terms of a deliberate considered order w/ potential off-label clinical benefit (my judgement), we'd have a very civil conversation about it, once. The second time would get ugly in a hurry.

Happens often. MD writes for a drug that is not approved for the hospital formulary. MD notified by pharmacy that drug is not on formulary. MD selects another drug that is on formulary. Sometimes MD gets pissed. Most know the policy. In this case the judge is asking the hospital to ignore accepted policy. Let MD transfer patient to a hospital that will let him be the boss.

A Butler County judge has ordered a hospital to treat a COVID-19 patient with the anti-parasite drug Ivermectin, a drug known to be used to treat or prevent parasites in animals, despite the CDC warning against it.
It’s been FDA approved for use in humans since the 80s.

Regardless of your thoughts on Covid, vaccines and ivermectin, a judge has absolutely no business telling doctors and hospitals how to treat patients. NONE!!!
The wife does!

Formularies have accepted and therapeutically equivalent alternatives. There is no alt for Ivermectin.
quote:... whoa. That jumps the shark. I guess it's fine if the prescribing MD is not well enough informed or connected to catch you in the fib. But that is a hell of a high stakes game.
Spoilers: if pharmacy doesn’t want to fill it, it won’t be “available”
Believe me it’s only reserved for the dumbest of absolute dumbasses. I think you’re underestimating just how stupid of a doctor I’m talking about here.
I’m talking “I make my patient hyperglycemic for the diuretic effect” stupid.

I'm not doctor and I know shite about Invermectin. But, it is my understanding that the drug is considered safe and approved for humans.
If the doctor prescribes it in a safe quantity, do we really want others telling him he's not allowed?
I've had more than one drug prescribed for me off label before. No one has ever questioned it. In fact, I don't think that I've ever noticed that "why" I was prescribed something has even been on my prescriptions although I can't swear to it one way or the other.

Lie by omission. My god...journalism has turned into an area of pieces of shite.
It’s crazy because “journalists” have no business questioning the credibility of the physician prescribing the Ivermectin without very little as to why he would. There’s a story in this story about the WHO, the CDC, the FDA, and big Pharmacy suppression of repurposed drugs that are not only safe and have shown real benefits in treatment of Covid-19, particularly if administered early in combination with other drugs.
Mark it down, this guy has been sick and on a ventilator for a good while and Ivermectin is being administered late and almost as a last resort. If he dies the hospital administration, hospital staff physicians, the CDC, and Dr. Fauci will all be triumphantly vindicated and this will be touted as a loud and clear call to slam the door on all alternative protocols.
It’s shameful.
quote:Suggestion: File it with your facility CQI/PI Chairman and/or Medical Chief of Staff. The Medical Staff should be made aware so they can address it. An Incident Report is another means via different channels but more political.

We do every single time.
This particular doc has been in trouble with his own medical board and had privileges to prescribe controlled substances suspended.
Quality at this place is pretty toothless, unfortunately. They’re a private physician so we can’t swing certain cudgels that being a hospital employee would normally permit.
