A federal judge blocked construction of President Trump's arch, stopping work the administration had hoped to begin immediately.

Just before midnight Friday, District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan issued an order — finalized and made public minutes later - barring the government from any construction work for 14 days, granting a request filed days earlier by the governments of D.C. and Virginia.

She laid out her reasoning in a 33-page opinion, in which she scrutinized the administration's competing justifications for the arch — particularly its sudden emphasis on national security — and agreed that the local governments are likely to be harmed by its construction. The 250-foot arch would stand in Memorial Circle, a traffic island on the bridge linking the Lincoln Memorial to Arlington National Cemetery.

Chutkan's ruling came less than two hours after a federal planning commission packed with presidential allies granted final approval to the arch in an 8-4 vote. The National Capital Planning Commission heard nearly eight hours of impassioned pleas from veterans, lawmakers, residents and concerned citizens opposed to the structure.

Why would a fed judge concern herself with a public arch. She doesn’t have a real job?

Clockwork.

Way to go GOP!

Did NOTHING about these fricktard DC judges. You could have scuttled the whole fricking court. But....no.

Nothing.

Didn't even cut their budget on paperclips.

Because in her esteemed legal and scholarly opinion, the arch would be harmful to “the people”. Because that’s what judges are appointed to do. Not interpret the law, but to pick the winners and losers based on their own judgment, informed as it is by social justice.

Yet another roadblock to the progress demanded by the American people. We spoke loud and clear and these activist libs just don't care. Imagine all that our great President could achieve if he could freely carry out the will of the people. The District of Trump. The Trump Presidential Library and Luxury Condominiums. The Trump Monument. The Trump (and Kennedy) Center. The Trump Memorial East Potomac Golf Course. The Trump Reflecting Pool. The Trump River. Lake Trump. Mount Trump. Trump Island. Trump Ocean. The Trump White House and Ballroom Memorial Complex. Trump Avenue. We could have had it all. Will no one rid us of these meddlesome judges?

How did anyone have standing before the arch was approved? There's no way she wrote 33 pages in 2 hours.

And how the hell does VA have the right to sue over a federal building outside their jurisdiction?

Great job sitting home, conservatives. You just empowered the people who use lawfare against you. You guys are geniuses.

This Admin would obey a town judge in Frogballs, West Virginia if it ordered anything.
