No response on the GAO's research?
Shocking.

How many background checks do we need? Apart from outright ban.
Felons can't own, mental institution history if disclosed gets flaged and barred.
Apart from false flags...at this point...it's either ban altogether or not.
You can't get anymore restritive without a ban. In fact, most would say the current laws already violate the 2nd Amendment. There's no provision that someone has to be perfect Mormon with a good job and no criminal history to own a gun in America.

Then you don’t understand history, especially our history.

"Can someone explain why stricter background checks would be a bad deal for the country?"
Is a poll tax bad for the country?

92 people a day in the US die from a gun shot wound. Stricter background checks is only one step to start correcting this. Our biggest problem is our kill first- talk later culture and the fact that we have 50% of the worlds guns and 5% of the population. We keep the second amendment, but have to start implementing logical changes like background check expansion to keep some people from buying guns legally.

I am against any Second Amendment restrictions sponsored by Chris Murphy.

Muh 2nd Amendment!
Why is it that people on the left do not respect the actual negative rights enumerated in the Constitution, but are the first to try to create some nonsensical positive rights like "healthcare"?
The language in the 2nd Amendment is as clear as can be, "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
