To be fair, they have a point.
Eddie Rispone just did not have a message that went beyond Trump. It was Trump this and Trump that and it just got so ridiculous he turned into a caricature of himself.
How big of a flop was that? Even after spending millions on ads, Rispone still had to go negative against Ralph Abraham to pick off the biggest Trump fans Abraham has to secure a spot in the runoff.
Rispone's Trump sycophantic message was so big of a flop that he did the one thing people warned him not to do after Vitter and he still panicked and did it anyway and JBE winds up getting reelected.
Rispone had two Trump rallies and still managed to find a way to lose to a democrat that in a red state that elected other statewide republicans by comfortable margins and gave a supermajority to republicans.

Rispone never waged a ground war at all. He literally thought millions in TV commercials and a couple Trump rallies were enough to get him elected against an entrenched incumbent.

Every statewide office outside of Governor is republican and they won their races by comfortable margins and the statehouse has a state senate with a republican supermajority and is two seats shy of a supermajority for the GOP in the house as well.
Louisiana is definitely a red state. It's just that JBE was very, very fortunate to run against two republicans running absolutely terrible campaigns and doing everything they could to earn the loss and did just that.

Well thankfully Trump has reduced refugee resettlement to around 20,000 per year as opposed to the 90,000 (mostly Syrian) under Obama.
