At least Jimmy was somewhat relevant. Rosie hasn’t done shite since her old talk show in the late 90s-early 2000s?

Even if the pre-cursor to a replacement was being of the progressive persuasion wouldn’t Marc Maron or, hell, raising Colbert from a television grave make more sense?

I doubt he’d ever do it and if he did not sure how he’d do in a host-guest situation but I’d like to see Bargatze have a shot. I think he would bring eyes and he might be a good/fun interviewer.

Didn’t Carson do things like this with guest hosts? In the 80’s Carson was hosting sometimes 4 nights a week with a guest host on one night of the week. Guest hosts would pop up if Carson was on vacation. I guess back then late night was such a franchise that it had to be fresh and couldn’t depend on rerunning an old show.

That is how Joan Rivers became famous and eventually Carson and Rivers developed a feud between the two because her popularity was growing because of him allowing her to host the show.

Even with her growth, Carson never considered her an equal and felt betrayed when she left to start her own late night show on the new Fox network. The betrayal was so bad, the two never spoke again. I wonder if the two made up in heaven.
