So, for the 2A paranoids to stay home on election day almost guarantees more Democrats in office to take away their 2A rights.

But we'll teach Republicans a lesson...yeah.

Wrong. The single greatest protection of the 2A is an active, vocal, and engaged populous who at the first sign of risk to the 2A lets it be known far and wide we will not stand for it.

There are far, far too many uniparty Republicans is Washington to think we can just sit out of the debate and trust them to handle it. The ONLY thing a republican in Washington cares about is staying in office.

For the record, that's "fully semi-automatic".

Giving this a little time?

It's like someone has grabbed your wife by the hand and is leading her to the bedroom, all the while saying "I am going to frick your wife now," and your saying, "I think I should just sit back and see how this plays out."

How about giving this a little time before declaring that Trump is preparing to toss everything overboard.

I am against ANYTHING that advances a STUPID idea - ESPECIALLY one that is prompted by a "we've got to do SOMETHING!!" mentality.

That is ALWAYs the WRONG thing to do

ESPECIALLTY when you are 'cooperating" with people of bad faith.

I am a law abiding citizen who owns guns.

With that being said I would be agreeable to requiring background checks for private party sales. (through a FFL holder). This is the "gun show loophole" they keep harping about. I am legal and there is no reason why I would be denied purchase.

And they could also increase (drastically) the penalty for committing a crime with a firearm. I would be ok with an extra 10 years without parole. Make the ramifications of committing a crime with a firearm so drastic criminals will either think twice about using one or they will be in a place (prison) where they cannot commit any further crimes.

And they should include in the legislation voterID requirement. If republicans can give in on the 2nd democrats should be ok with making sure only citizens vote.

And if the “something” is agreement that better enforcement of existing laws is the most effective thing to do?

Then you're agreeable to firearm registration.

Yeah sure. We’ll see how much your skyscreaming accomplishes next time the Dems hold the WH and Congress.

Not always. Buddy of mine paid $700 for a Kimber that was semi semi-automatic.

Well if Trump turns his back on gun owners we will likely know sooner rather than later.

Not anymore that when I buy one in a store. And I buy most of my firearms new at a retailer.

And any gun registry would include all those weapons that I periodically lose in random boating accidents.

You lost me a little bit, and I don't want to put words in your mouth. You're ok with the government having a list of every firearm in the country and who owns it? And if they show up at your house and you don't have the 1911 S/N xxx that their registry says you own, you're a felon?

No. I am completely opposed to a gun registry.

The term often used by leftists "gun show loophole" is in reference to private party sales. Every gun show I have been to that had dealers, required an ATF 4473 be filled out. The same form you have to fill out at Academy before buying a firearm.

I am a legal gun owner and am not opposed to the current background check being required to transfer ownership of a firearm between 2 private individuals. All the law abiding citizens will not be denied the transfer.

However this will not do much, as criminals wont use a dealer with a FFL to run the 4473 and finalize the transfer. They will just pay cash and take possession of the weapon. If a gun ban were ever passed, and law abiding people surrender their weapons, the criminals will not give theirs up and we will be at an even greater disadvantage.

Leftists think passing a law will fix the problem. However there are already municipalities that have already banned virtually all firearms from civilians (Washington DC, Chicago, etc), and these bans have had zero effect on gun crime.

In my original post I mentioned Republicans tying the private sales and voterID, that was my intention.

Sorry I didnt state it more plainly, hopefully this is a better explanation.

That’s just Semantics. Walmart calls them Semi-automatic to avoid the Chinese tariffs.
