I honestly don't know what Trump was thinking.
70% of this board called it in advance, that the super early debate was going to give Dims the opportunity to evaluate Biden and potentially pull the last-minute switcharoo to another candidate. I still say Trump should have refused and made them either jettison Biden far more publicly or face an even more humiliating defeat than they would have anyway with Harris.
It all worked out, but I still feel like it was a misstep.
