I don't love him.
Strikes me as a stereotypical mealy mouthed caricature of a politician. Just doesn't strike me as authentic. But Louisiana GOP gonna Louisiana GOP.

I’ll bet $$$ that the fortunes of LA remain wholly unchanged regardless of the letter next to the politician’s name.

Supposedly, Graves is going to run.
Posted on 9/10/22 at 12:42 am to saints5021
Worse yet. Billy cut a deal with Honor Choade that if he stayed far away from supporting any Republican candidates for Governor, Bel would ensure he ran without a challenge from a D for Lt. Governor.
Total slime

I liked it when Jeff told Newell Normand that people who don't like what he's doing can leave and not let the door hit them in the azz.
Newell came unglued. Newell has his WWL game. Whenever somebody is about to jam him up, he overpowers the caller with his own question, and repeatedly says " answer my question" until the music plays, oh, gotta go to a break. Then comes back with a totally new subject.
Yeah, i know bigshot norman's m.o.

1) Jeff Landry isn’t a bad politician. All politicians do what he does or worse or they do nothing at all
2) LA politicians are even worse
3) Landry has similar views to a majority of this board
4) get over yourselves. Same whiny bitches that held their votes when Abraham lost. Y’all are the issue here, not Landry or Rispone - it’s whiny Republicans

Kennedy run for governor. Landry go to DC
Posted on 9/10/22 at 7:23 am to Hamma1122
Kennedy seems to have grown to like DC. He’s a walking quote machine, and gets a ton of press playing his cornpone, awe shucks act. Don’t think he’s moving. I thought we might see Graves run, but he’s getting more done than the rest where he is, sort of hope he will stay there. He’s been a big help kicking the Corps’ arse when we’ve needed something in a hurry.

In the sense of making headlines and capturing attention, I would even say he is a good politician.
The real question is how good of a governor will he be. Many people have doubts.

Some people are good at riling up the base and grabbing headlines (or making their own) in attempts to “own the libs”.
Then there’s others who have the above in them, but also have the acumen to actually govern.

I’m going to guess his platform will be more federal political buzz words and culture war battles. I expect nothing of any policy value for curing what ails Louisiana.
The wait for a white knight continues, and I don’t think I’m the only one waiting. I fully expect the last entrant to be the most promising.

frick it. It's not like there's anyone else worth two shits as a possibility.
I'll probably vote for soon-to-be Governor "LOOK AT MEEEEEE!" but I understand the aversion. There's been plenty of opportunities for other candidates who aren't just job hopping but what are ya gonna do, you know?

I'm going to bump this thread because of what has come out this week regarding the Freeport-McMoran deal that Attorney General Landry has supported with Governor John Bel Edwards, at odds with the oil & gas industry he claims to be a HUGE champion of.
LINK
quote:
Thank you, DA Duhe and Parish Council, for your support of oil and natural gas in South Louisiana.
Last night, the St. Mary Parish Council voted against a resolution to support the “Freeport MaMoRan Settlement,” standing with Terrebonne, Lafourche and Vermilion parishes against misguided legal action against Louisiana’s oil and natural gas industry. This settlement has failed at the legislature twice already.
This definitive decision by the St. Mary Parish Council, paired with comments from DA Duhe and Parish President Hanagriff, show that St. Mary Parish is committed to working with Louisiana’s oil and natural gas industry, not against it.
Parish Councilmembers, along with DA Duhe, voiced support for the industry and spoke to the ramifications of these lawsuits.
“These lawsuits have hurt Louisiana and they are going to hurt St. Mary Parish if we participate in this. The only ones that come out in this deal are the trial attorneys and they stand to make millions,” said Councilman Scott Ramsey.
Parish President David Hanagriff said that he was on record for being against the legal action.
DA Duhe also expressed his opposition to the lawsuits.

Huh? I thought Landry was against these lawsuits. Why do you think he is for them?

As long as he’s pro constitutional carry, I’m in. Do we expect Gravy Clogged Chambers to make a run when he’s slaughtered in the Senate race?

From what I've gathered on your posts over the years hear, not sure if your question is genuine or sarcastic.
I'm leaning towards the latter. I think you know.
quote:
Attorney General Jeff Landry has announced he plans to publicly authorize a $100 million settlement with oil and gas company Freeport McMoRan Inc.
A completed deal, negotiated by Baton Rouge attorney John Carmouche, would mean that parishes and the state will end their lawsuit against the company in return for money to spend on coastal restoration. The Carmouche law firm has accused Freeport and 41 other oil and gas companies of destroying coastal wetlands and marshes through their drilling and exploration activities.
“This is real, and it’s a big deal,” Carmouche told the daily paper Wednesday about Landry’s move. “It’s also an important day when this big deal can be done in a nonpartisan way and respect the economy, energy companies and the environment all at the same time.”
The deal is far from done, but the decision by Landry, considered friendly to the oil and gas industry, puts it one step closer to completion.
Industry reps have responded to the news with criticism.
“Only politicians and lawyers have seen this supposed settlement,” said Marc Ehrhardt, the executive director of the Grow Louisiana Coalition. “It has been done in secret. Whenever a politician or lawyer says ‘Trust me. It’s good for you,’ it doesn’t seem to work out too well for the people. How is this secret settlement scheme any different?”
Ehrhardt said political leaders should be focusing on jobs and business instead of making deals with trial lawyers. He also said the lawsuits haven’t helped coastal restoration projects as much as contributions by energy industries.
Similar responses have come from the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association, the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association and a spokesperson for the legal teams representing BP America Production Company, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil Corporation and Shell.

I mean...can we have a candidate that's both pro-Constitutional Carry AND pro-Oil & Gas? One who's not aligning with the current Governor and against industry on these legacy lawsuits?
