While it is an opinion - he really should not say that out loud in an interview.

I understand what you are saying and agree with you in principle. However some things are better left unsaid if the campaign has to use time and resources defending it. Its no secret what will trigger righteous indignation from the media. No matter what Trump or Vance say about abortion it will only be spun back in their face. Focus on the policy differences.

It doesn’t matter what is said, it’s going to be about what is reported they said, especially when the truth bears no resemblance.
Even if they said nothing at all, quotes attributed to them would be splashed throughout the media and the parrots would gleefully repeat as if it were true.
