I think he makes a good point, and here’s why: IMO, much like the situation with Islamists, too many folks underestimate the resolve of Putin (and plenty of other Russians) to accomplish ultimate goals that would likely seem a bit outrageous to us - but they don’t think the same way we do. I believe Russia, most especially with Putin at the helm, is a very underrated problem.
Surely you’re not saying you think he’ll pivot to attacking NATO countries after what you’ve seen him accomplish in Ukraine?

In the early 90's, the new independent Ukraine had a bunch of nuclear weapons. I know some of you young pups were too young to see what was happening then, but I was well aware. It was a big deal with lots of concern that some of those nukes could end up being sold to terrorists regimes or organizations.
America, UK, the West and Russia made a solemn guarantee to Ukraine's sovereignty if they gave up those nukes. They gave up the nukes.
Now America's promise is again in question. America should not go back on its word if our word is to mean anything at all.

There have been a few American wars that I could understand or at least conjure up a rationale for getting involved, even though I may not have agreed. This Ukraine-Russia thing is about the dumbest, most dangerous, least logical, involvement in a foreign war of them all, IMO. Don't sell shite to anybody. Just get out of this nonsense and it'll end. Ukraine will be better off, and the US will be much, much better off.

That a solid a solid plan, no one disagrees.

with minimal cost
Now we have a problem- we have sent 175 Billion, what is your definition of minimal? I believe this is where the VP is aggravated, he see this as an American- lets stop this stupid shite- we could use this money elsewhere

This war is one of the biggest thefts of American taxpayer dollars in history.

Oh Jesus this is not that complicated.
We let Ulraine in as a "Full Associated Member". A new class of membership. (We make the same offer to Moldova at the same time).
Article Five is given to Ukraine just like it applies to the "real" NATO countries, so if Russia attacks again, bad news for Russia.
But to calm them down, the associate member status means that NATO troops (apart from Ukranian troops of course) cannot be stationed there, so no threat to Russia, NATO troops can engage in brief exchange missions and training and day to day things they do worldwide (US Marines guarding the US Embassy for example),
So Ukraine gets its security, Russia gets "no threat".
Russia keeps Crimea which was a wild arse gift frojmj Khruschev anyway, so eff it, keep it. But they cannot keep what they attacked and took over now because some shite they took over, mineral mines and all that and a nuke station, that stuff has a lot of value. Sorry Russia, give it back.
War over.

Those were not Ukraine's nukes they were Russia's and Russia had the codes.. Also, Ukriane made a deal with the devil, Nato and the west told Ukraine we got your back if Russia attacks, they have not, they send them weapons but will not send troops, why, brcause the west and nato were always lying...

That's not reality nor would it make sense to suddenly just bring Ukraine into NATO
Posted on 8/10/25 at 11:50 pm to HailToTheChiz
Why is it not reality and why does it not make sense?
Ukraine has shown it can kicl arse as a military and spends the 5 percent on defense NATO demands.

You know Russia will never agree willingly to that. It's a non-starter.
The only way Ukraine is getting that territory back is if it's paid for with American blood spilt on that soil forcing Russia back.
Posted on 8/11/25 at 12:14 am to TigerFanatic99
Russia is not so strong as you think, I believe they could negotiate that away.

What the hell are you talking about? They take more than that every day?

And if that happens the nukes will fly! Russia isn't waiting around for the west to destroy them without a fight. Warmonger leaders have led to this situation.

It has nothing to do with how strong Russia is or isn't. They aren't going to give that land back in a negotiation, period. It will have to be forcefully take from them and Ukraine sure isn't going to be the ones to do it
Posted on 8/11/25 at 12:43 am to TigerFanatic99
Then NATO should take it back. Russia should not be allowed to invade and take territory,

Vance is wrong. I don't want Russia attacking a NATO country and getting us in an Article 5 conflict. The only way to do that is to beat them in Ukraine. I'd rather beat them now with minimal cost and other people's soldiers than an all out NATO war.

No you are not. You are an idiot. Like I have said before you feel the need to help little ole Ukraine out then pull out your personal check book and spend as much as you like. My tax dollars need to help Americans out not little midgets that like killing his own people

So since this clearly isn't an article 5 situation, you are advocating for the continuance of Team America: World Police?
Morally I don't disagree with your stance, but I have grown weary of American men and women dieing all over the world. You said yourself that Russia is weak. They aren't a threat we need to spill red, white, and blue blood over.
Posted on 8/11/25 at 1:57 am to Eurocat
That’s a good way to have Russia actually do something crazy

They were Russian nukes parked in Ukraine. They didnt have codes and could not have moved them without the world knowing it.
I do agree we went back on our word and created a coup and overthrew the govt of a sovereign country to start a war with Russia. The answer is not to continue the coup, and stop funding our cia proxy to wage war with Russia.

Euro,
Ukraine will never be a part of NATO. Look at what the little friggin hitler is doing to his country now, can you imagine if he was part of NATO, he would have us in WW3.
Course I should say what he and his cia buddies have caused.
