while they had absolutely ZERO problem with requiring a proof of vaccine card to enter a restaurant or other public place

I support an election day national holiday amendment absolutely

The rest of it should need to be done at a state by state level.

I utterly fail to see how asking for photo ID is voter suppression; seems to me the opposite is true and it would strengthen voter integrity.

But the left knows this, their real goal is to always build in a plausible margin of fraud.

I like the option to early vote and it should continue. Early votes should be tabulated days before the election and held in private escrow, and the results reported as soon as voting closes. No more counting early ballots all night.

Federal election, federal rules

We don’t need more Federal oversight of Federal elections; we indeed need less Federal encroachment on State’s rights. U.S. Senators were originally chosen by State Legislatures, which reflected the desire of the framers to create a system of checks and balances between the individual States and the Federal Government.

This method of choosing U.S. Senators was in place for over a century, indicating a long-standing tradition in American governance.Yet the ratification of the 17th Amendment marked a pivotal reduction in the power of State Legislatures by allowing for the direct election of senators by the electorate.

In hindsight, the ultimate result of the 17th Amendment was a reduction of State’s rights and massive shift in power to the nation’s Capital. Certainly Congress has the Constitutional authority to alter election law but the Constitution likewise gives State Legislators great leeway in regulating elections and I would be extremely hesitant in altering that arrangement.

Make the food stamp card a picture ID. Problem solved.

Wouldn’t it be nice for people to be unable to sell their food stamp card?

Your comments had nothing to do with same day voting, paper ballots, or ID.

24 things that require a photo ID

1. Alcohol
2. Cigarettes
3. Opening a bank account
4. Apply for food stamps
5. Apply for welfare
6. Apply for Medicaid/Social Security
7. Apply for unemployment or a job
8. Rent/buy a house, apply for a mortgage
9. Drive/buy/rent a car
10. Get on an airplane
11. Get married
12. Purchase a gun
13. Adopt a pet
14. Rent a hotel room
15. Apply for a hunting license
16. Apply for a fishing license
17. Buy a cell phone

19. Pick up a prescription
20. Hold a rally or protest
21. Blood donations
22. Buy an “M” rated video game

How do poor minorities exist without ID, if they can't even open a bank account or apply for food stamps, welfare, Medicaid/Social Security, or unemployment?

Yes they most certainly were. Again, the Constitution grants State Legislatures the authority to regulate elections and my comments were totally germane to my point that maintaining State’s right serves as a counterweight to Federal overreach.

I have the 25th one for your list. Last week I went to my local FedEx ship center to send a pkg domestically and the clerk asked for my ID. FedEx would've refused to accept my pkg if I didn't show my ID.

Great Ideas! Vance is by far the best thing going for the Trump admin so far. I only fear that the ID would hard to mandate at the federal level as constitutionally, the elections are the states to run.

This might not be another 80/20 issue for Trump, but in general I would be willing to be it is a 70/30. People want the voting holiday and ID support is probably around 60%.

24 things that require a photo ID

7. Apply for unemployment or a job
Not all jobs require showing an ID. Especially if you are using a head hunter and the job calls you.

13. Adopt a pet
I have had several pets and never shown ID. Maybe it's a state thing.

14. Rent a hotel room
I have sometimes had to show ID and sometimes just paying in advance will make the clerk at a mom and pop hotel just give you the keys with no ID.

17. Buy a cell phone
Not in my experience, though I was buying it from the same company that gives me my cable TV, maybe that is why.

18. Visit a casino
I have relatives in Atlantic City I visit about twice a year. I slowly gamble about 200 bucks just for fun. Never had to show id as far as I recall.

19. Pick up a prescription
Not where I live, they just ask you name and birthdate. Again, might be a state thing.

20. Hold a rally or protest
Depends on how big it is. A protest in a public park as long as you are not doing something crazy like waving around a weapon or undressing will not reqiure an ID.

23. Purchase nail polish at CVS
Not a woman so I don't know anything about this, but my wife has never said anything like this. State thing?

But your point overall is good and fair.

Actually we should be doing the exact opposite and going to e-voting.

Voting ends at Midnight. Results are in one minute later. THAT is the best way to prevent fraud. It also solves the voter ID issue since people can use finger prints or facial recognition to ID themselves.

Video on all this -

Some folks won't take the time to get an ID but will to get fingerprints and pictures in a database?

And a nationwide database of fingerprints and facial recognition? Not to sure about that one.
