Precisely why I’ve been saying you can’t vote yourself out of communism.

Good luck with that, Jamie! When was Trump charged with, let alone convicted of, insurrection?

It says you can’t hold any of several offices, including president, if you’d taken part of an insurrection. It was written shortly after the Civil War, with southerners in mind. It’s also why, during, and immediately after January 6th, all the dimocratixes and the media remarkably and “independently” came up with the exact same descriptor for the riot…….it was an “insurrection.”” They chose that word purposely. They were laying the groundwork for what we are seeing here

Thank you. Didn't Colorado already try this?

This would be a really smart play on their part... I don't think it would end like they think it would...

I have some bad news for this dude.

If Trump manages to beat the machine and win in November and congress pulls some frickery to try to prevent Trump from taking office, there likely isn’t enough protection in the world for him and his ilk.

They did, and SCOTUS said it was up to Congress to remove him, not the state court system. So Raskin et al will try to remove him even if he wins.

Sort of. The CO Supreme Court used the 14th to keep him off the ballot in CO. In Trump v Anderson, the Supreme Court of the United States unanimously ruled in Trump’s favor reversing the CO decision and its interpretation of the 14th Amendment. Legislatively, there are some things that Congress could accomplish that might make the 14th Amendment applicable, but that would be extremely unlikely to even get out of committee in the House much less passed by the House and Senate.

Pass legislation pursuant to the Amendment, likely specifically-tailored to what Trump did

The state did via their state voting laws. The USSC said this was not valid and Congress had to pass a law (as they have before). No other body can pass a law pursuant to the 14A to rely on the power of this specific clause.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment is a part of the U.S. Constitution that gives Congress the authority to bar public officials, who took an oath of allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, from holding office if they "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the Constitution or gave aid or comfort to its enemies1234. This section was enacted after the Civil War to prevent former Confederate officials from returning to power
They have lost their minds.

Raskin goes on to say it is all the SCOTUS' fault.

Are these people from the same planet?

Raskin could tell me water was wet and it would make me want to consult a chemist just to make sure.
