Its a utility that governs and essentially regulates speech. We cannot allow a private entity to have this much control over American discourse.

Its time to seize the means of the search-function.

Declare it a public utility, then order the FCC to shut it down.

The fact this is seriously being discussed with merit means this experiment is almost over.

It is well past time to wield anti-trust legislation against the social media conglomerates.

You think the government will do a better job? And be more impartial?

Just think of both the Ma Bell, and Microsoft Anti-Trust rulings and realize that Google is doing 1000x worse.

In hindsight, that was probably a bad idea as well.

I can't see how Google isn't at least as bad as the historic monopolies at this point, likely way worse

They're worse, much worse. The monopolies of the past just wanted your money, Google wants to control your speech and eventually thoughts. They want to filter the information you receive to suit their interest (which may actually be the same as the DMCs interest. They have been caught many time do this and still not accountability for them.

Google has plenty of competition and is certainly no more a censor than is the New York Times or the Washington Post who are also in the business of selling advertising.

Anyone that wants the government to start deciding which companies are right and wrong in their content are too naive to be taken seriously.

It's not about search engines.

It is about selling advertising and that is all it is about.
