Actually, that's not at all what "botched" means. "botched" refers to when someone gets hurt with the weapon used to commit said robbery. Using your definition, it wouldnt be a robbery. Would be attempted or assault.

Other than its fabricated out of thin air. If I walk up to you and shoot you in the chest a couple times and walk off then it's no more a "botched robbery" than it is a "botched rape". Its ridiculous. This is a plain case of cold blooded murder.
