re: It's because people stopped going to church. They simply don't know right from wrong.

I think that's a big part of it, but I actually think a larger negative influence on people has been a glorification of works of fiction to the point where popular fiction shapes worldviews FAR too much.
In lit classes all over the country regardless of the area, kids are taught that they are supposed to take all of these life lessons from works of fiction and they seem to forget that it is fiction at all. Not that they believe its real, but I think it shapes their real world expectations.

Who's teaching the next generation? It's not the church, because kids aren't going. Adults aren't going.
I know that people have a natural instinct about right and wrong. But these leftist morons don't understand why they keep losing their jobs. They literally don't comprehend.
Since we can't pray in school anymore the kids are not hearing "Thou Shalt not Kill". I mean that's pretty simple to understand. There's no qualifier after the word "Kill".
Regardless of your feelings about the existence of God, hanging out with people who are making an effort to just be better, can't be a bad thing.
I don't know. It just seems like common sense to me.
Kids can pray in school any time they want. People can pray anytime, anywhere they want.
FFS, where do you idiots come from?

No, I think you are presupposing I actually believe in the Bible as truthful and authoritative.

As a Christian (not a good one) I agree.
Over the past 20 years, this country has progressively moved away from the church based on a declining trust in religious leaders and institutions, and a host of other reasons.
God can fix the world, but people have to come back to Him.

The left has intentionally subverted America's value system anywhere it comes from and it has been going on for generations.

They’re one of the few translations that get John 1:1 correct.
I really do hope the Lord saves you before your end. I pity the estate you will be in if you don’t repent and trust in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for the forgiveness of your sins.

Less compassion for others is also a side effect. Every atheist I know is self-centered and pompous.
We are open minded and don’t believe things that can’t be validated or believe things that are easy to show scientifically that aren’t true. That’s what you guys seem to hate so much. You think you have it all figured out and that we are all going to hell and you are 100% convinced because you have a willingness to believe in fantasy despite the facts slapping you in the face. It’s very sad really.
quote:
They don’t believe in our all-powerful and all- knowing God.
Because the facts don’t point to that being true. Hell, your own Bible, which so many of you hate and ignore, tells you otherwise if you’d just read it. Most of you can’t be bothered to actually read the book you claim is the word of God. It’s shameful on your part. You should be embarrassed.
Why believe your God is all powerful? Because one part of the Bible says he created everything? What about the parts that state your God is a created being, one of many sons of a higher God, and that your God has even lost many battles against the other gods? My favorite example is when your God was defeated by the Moabites god “Chemosh” when they had a coalition of Israelite, Judahite, and Edomite armies. Your God couldn’t even defeat the Canaanites because they had iron chariots. I mean, come on man.
All knowing? Why does he regret making man and killing them in a flood. And then why does he regret killing man and promised never to do it again (with water)? Why does God threaten to kill all the Israelites when they make the golden calf? Why does God change his mind so many times? Seriously, read the Bible before you make these assertions next time.

I've gone down the rabbit hole with him before. His schtick is to just try to prove people wrong or showcase the evils of religion or the Bible.

You are no Greek scholar
Neither are you, but we can all read scholarly material and learn something new. You can’t argue with anything I’ve said about what John 1:1 says because you know 100% I am correct. You hide behind your dogma letting it supersede what the biblical text literally says while you claim to reject church tradition in favor of sola scriptura. You are a hypocrite and you know it.
quote:
You are an apologist for atheism
Funny you would even say such a thing because you don’t think atheism really exist. You have claimed on here there are no real atheists and that we all really believe in your deities and Jesus but hate and reject them. Yeah, stupid, we all just want to go to hell for eternity.
quote:

Uh, thanks??? I’m really just trying to spark discussions, but you never offer any value to any discussion because you spout your nonsense about repenting instead of engaging the subject matter.
quote:
the divine nature of Jesus.
The NT epistles and gospels that were canonized through church tradition that you claim to not recognize but surely follow nonetheless are clear that Jesus is divine, but not capital G-o-d God.
Your real problem is you think God exhausts the category of divine. Your brain goes into the blue screen of death when you encounter all the other gods of the Bible, including the Nephilim (sons of God), the sons of God who like Yahweh inherited nations from the high god El Elyon, all the other gods Yahweh loses to in battle, the other gods Yahweh does defeat in battle, and the gods Yahweh’s followers hoped would one day usurp their authority and rule the world (psalm 82). Angels are divine, cherubim, seraphim, ophanim, etc. but to lesser degrees. There are many things within the category of divine. Jesus’ own followers (and the pre-Christians such as the Dead Sea scrolls sect) all believed they would shed garments of flesh and be given new garments of divinity. It’s not just “God” who is divine.
quote:
I really do hope the Lord saves you before your end. I pity the estate you will be in if you don’t repent and trust in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for the forgiveness of your sins.
Here we go. Save your finger muscles and make a substantive coherent argument next time.
You know Chemosh is real. And you know he defeated Yahweh. And you hate Chemosh, not because he isn’t real, but because he trounced your “all powerful” deity from the infusion of power and might of the receipt of the sacrifice of the king’s son.
quote:
26When the king of Moab saw that the battle was going against him, he took with him 700 swordsmen to break through, opposite the king of Edom, but they could not. 27Then he took his oldest son who was to reign in his place and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. And there came great wrath against Israel. And they withdrew from him and returned to their own land.

The Democrats cause economic and social turmoil on the world but they certainly didn't invent non-boring sex. Ancient Pharaohs, queens, and various rulers were incredibly horny and had various rooms and dungeons in their palaces for all sorts of kinky sex shite.
This whole anything but missionary sex for reproduction purposes is bad isn't a left vs right thing. It's a religious fundamentalist issue. That's why old Christian men have the highest rate of prostate cancer. Frequent clearing of the pipes keeps the prostate cancer away.

The problem is also the church itself. Leadership of churchesNow want to have a sunday service and then have life groups..
There is no more sunday school. There is no more deep dives into the bible from the church itself.
I've been in life group for 3 yeara and don't know the people in the life group any better than I did 3 years ago. I've done all I can to try to foster friendships. But people are just going through the motions.

In the beginning was the word, the word was with God. The WORD WAS GOD. Ignoring his word and commandments is sending your soul to the lake of fire. People change. But GOD'S WORD never changes and is everlasting. There will come a day of judgement for everyone, and God's almighty word will be the final say.

Why not research his statements? Maybe you'll find them unpersuasive. Maybe doing so will deepen your faith. At the very least, they should make you ask questions.
Mo, it’s interesting and frustrating at the same time. Most of these kinds of people prioritize their dogma (derived from the traditions of the social groups to which they belong) above facts of the natural world and even above the Bible itself. The Bible is a threat to their dogma and their worldview and most are simply not interested in learning anything that could change what they believe.
Even the ones that claim to adhere to a doctrine of sola scriptura and reject (catholic) church tradition, they still adhere to most of the Catholic tradition plus the traditions of whichever church they belong and that gets prioritized above the literal words of the Bible. They use the Bible - picking and choosing verses - to support their dogma rather than simply learning what the Bible says (and even what it doesn’t say).
So arguing with a religious believer is tough. They are either uneducated on scientific topics or they’re a victim of cognitive dissonance, so proving that the earth is a sphere and that there never was a global flood or that the earth is 4 billion years old instead of 6,000 years old is fruitless. They aren’t interested in scientific facts. They hold the scripture as the highest authority… except that’s a lie. Showing them all the problems and contradictions with their scripture is also fruitless, because their dogma and church traditions are the highest priority and they want to believe it and aren’t interested in honest engagement in a discussion or learning moment that could change their mind about anything.
But… if I can possibly help 1% of people to start using their brains, it is worthwhile.

We haven't just lost God, we as humans, seem to have lost gratitude and humility.
Many have replaced religion with politics and God with Self.
I happen to think that the practice of showing up every week to show gratitude to God for what you have in life and pray for others less fortunate is just as important as the parables written in the Bible.

Many of the people who yell in your face "I dont need religion to be a good person" have shown over the past week they arent good people.
