From among the ones who are the problem?

Couple this with his extreme stances and criminal allegations

LOL.

DeSantis has peaked as an elected official. He's a great governor and is where he needs to be. We might see him as Vance's AG.

You’re such a tool who hasn’t read Pete’s bio. He has spent multiple tours in combat in the sandbox.

I dont see that as an issue with him.

His appeal is his ability to relate to the basic servicemen’s and not just relate but his focus on them.

we have military leaders in place to advice to actual military strategy.

Now if his goal is to figure int military graft and spending he probably will need an army of accountants regardless.

It is hard to believe that qualifications even matter with some of these picks. Biden had a guy who thinks he is a woman serve as the country’s chief medical officer. There is lots of irony in that.

You should get elected president and then you can appoint whomever you'd like.
Like Trump is doing.

How's "the baggage" matter once he's in place?

How about that combined with his intellectual capacity, and communicative capability?

Two points:

1. What are the qualifications for being a cabinet secretary? We've seen from the last administration that those qualifications are nebulous at best, e.g., Mayor Pete.

2 There have been several SoDs with extensive military experience as general officers who have been totally incompetent in that position. I offer the current one.

Although he was an Infantry Officer, he never graduated from Ranger school, which I understand is rare in the company grades and almost unseen in the field grades.

He was in the National Guard. I know the guard and I don't know a lot who were tabbed just to say they were tabbed. He was never going to 1st Bat so he didn't see the need. I don't find this to be a disqualifier.

America is “burning” under Marxist oppression and this is what you nit pick? People like you are why America as we know it might not exist much longer.

Your mistake is thinking the SecDef needs to be military man. What he needs to be is a leader and willing to implement the vision of the President. He does need the fortitude to stand up to the President when he thinks he is wrong, but ultimately he needs to do the President’s bidding.

Quite frankly, it wouldn’t bother me one bit to have one who has zero military background. Outside eyes can be very helpful.

It just seems strange to me that this is the candidate Trump is choosing to lead the DOD and its personnel, when there are so many other career military officers that would be better suited because they have the requisite experience on active duty.

Yeah, you kinda gotta just look around a little to appreciate what's truly happening here. You keep hearing, "There are so many better career [insert title here] that are qualified for the job..."

How has that worked out? Always appointing all these "career politicians" and "career LEOs" and "career activists" has sure gotten us to this point, right? Yeah, it has, and that's not necessarily good. In fact, it's just not good at all.

Trump had never been a politician until he became President. Suddenly, he learned how nasty the game is. But he still did a fantastic job as the CEO of the USA, being the accomplished business tycoon he has always been. You should consider that there are a lot of moving parts in every area, including Defense. Hegseth is being tapped to eliminate wokeness and the weakness it spawns. That's his primary role, and a very important one. I won't put a mechanic in charge of shipping and receiving or put a dispatcher in charge of engineering, but I might very well move that mechanic to engineering because he has a great grasp on the overall concepts and undersands that ultimately it's the mechanics that fix all the shite that the engineers got wrong.

See where I'm going here?

He will do amazing. No one from today's West Point could ever bring to the table, the house cleaning that Pete is about to catalyze. Your concern threads have been off the charts as of late. I would suggest some decompression time. Maybe a little bourbon or weed, and unplug from anything political for a few days.
